Untold Stories of Unsuccessful Persons - Episode # 3 - Muhammad Mansha
There are a countless number of people out there who did their best for themselves and tried hard to live a successful life but there are also a countless number of reasons due to these people were never able to achieve their dreams. I've covered three of them so far, Muhammad Aslam, Muhammad Yousaf and today I met with Muhammad Mansha, a fruit seller. Let's see what he had to tell about his life!
1) So how was your childhood?
Pathetic, my childhood wasn't like other ordinary children. I never saw my father, my mother told me that he died two months before I was born. As far as I remember correctly, I saw my two elder brothers working in a small workshop. I don't remember at what age I also started working there with them but yes, I was too small. I saw children carrying their bags and going to school and wanted to go with them. I once asked my Amma (Mother) that buy me a bag, clothes and books so that I can also go to school. She replied
"Only children of rich people go to school, child like you work in factories, hotels, workshops etc. You're born in a poor family and that's neither your fault not mine".
So now you can imagine how I spent my childhood :) (He had a little sad smile)
2) Okay but once you grew up, you never thought to start your education?
To be honest, no. I had no time of going to school after working 14 hours in the workshop. I had a financial responsibility to fulfill. My brothers and I used to work 6 days a week 14 hours a day to meet all the expenses and the major chunk of that was the rent of my house and medical expenses of my mother, so suppose if I would have thought about it, it was never possible
3) So what happened next?
My mother found a girl and I married her at the age of 18, another member added, so expenses increased. After the death of my mother, we all brothers decided to live separately as my wife and my brother's wives used to fight everyday, so this decision increased my expenses.
4) How?
Sir, we had to pay a total PKR 5,000 ($50) rent per month for the house and we all brothers used to divide this amount equally, so I had to pay around PKR 1,666 ($16.66) for the house rent. But when I rented out a separate house, the rent was PKR 3,000 ($30), so almost PKR 1,500 ($15) added in my monthly expenses.
5) I got that, so when did you leave your job and how the idea of selling fruits came in your mind?
That's a long story but let me make it short, someone stole a very expensive car from my owner's workshop, he blamed us, me and my brothers and put all of us behind the bars. We then fought for justice but this is Pakistan, we were jailed for 5 years by the judge. When we came out, we had no job and education. Nobody was willing to give us a job as people are afraid of hiring someone who has spend his time in jail. So we all brothers decided to start our own work, bought one wheel cart and started selling vegetables and fruits. Today, we have our own wheel carts and everyone does his own business of selling fruits and vegetables, so I am happy.
6) So do you think if you had any opportunity of making your life more better than this? Like people say that every person gets atleast one opportunity in his/her life, it's upto him/her whether he/she avails or not?
Who said this? You look like an educated person, did you read this in a book?
(I said no, I have just heard people saying this).
(He thought for almost 2.5 minutes and then replied)
No, never, I never got an opportunity of making my life better. Though I tried to create an opportunity as I told you that I wanted to get education but my family's circumstances never allowed me do so. However, I'm not letting my children to go through such circumstances. I have 6 children and all go to school. One of them was awarded full fee waiver scholarship for his excellence academic results and my other children are also good at studies, so I am happy that my children will buy me a good and comfortable life for sure, not soon but before I die!
Please resteem and share his life story with other people!
i love his faith toward his children.
well it seems that the court system my place and yours is a bit the same.
You live in Indonesia right? A far better place when it comes to serve justice to common people!
