Not all heroes wear capes. This awesome innovative technology promises to be one of the heroes of humanity. Small, artificial intelligence-based microscopes currently being built by IBM researchers are designed to monitor bioindicator organisms - the planktons.
These autonomous microscopes which would be deplored into water bodies have the technicalities to monitor, identify and track planktons in their natural environments. Information from their intelligence can be used to predict threats to water bodies as planktons naturally serve as bio-indicator in the aquatic ecosystems.
The microscope has no lens and relies on an imager chip, like the one in any cell phone, to capture the shadow of the plankton as it swims over the chip, generating a digital sample of its health, without the need for focusing.

This gadget could undoubtedly revolutionize the research and observation of marine life, especially because the use of AI allows for more effective monitoring and angles to gather better information from the planktons and maybe in the near future other species.

Very innovative and new concept of an AI powered Microscope. It is still in development and not out yet for the public but it promises great technical features like. observe smallest biological animals, bacteria or viruses. Exciting Future...very good Hunt!
I've always wondered how life is underwater. Having this type of technology will bring this information to us. What I like about this hunt is this:
Even though planktons are small, they serve a very important role - they serve as bio-indicators of aquatic ecosystems. No planktons, no ecosystem.
