Greetings Steemians. This is @gentbynature with a belated introduction.

Greetings fellow Steemians,
My name is Felix and I am looking forward to getting involved in this amazing community.

This is me trying to put up a straight face while my friends poke fun at me from behind the camera.
(Note to self: don't have your friends take pictures of you after a party)

ABOUT MYSELF

I am in my mid-twenties and studying biomedical chemistry in central Germany.
Since my family originates from three countries (Germany, Britain and South Africa) I have always valued freedom of movement and the right to express oneself openly, particularly in light of the history two of those countries have had.
Most of my early twenties were spent globe-trotting, discovering who and where I wanted to be and to my own surprise that particular journey led me almost right back to where I started geographically.
Nowadays I have (almost) settled and found a rhythm to my life I feel very comfortable with.
Most people who know me would agree I am inherently impatient, talkative and outgoing. When something captures my interest I go all in and try to get as knowledgeable on the subject as possible, however things that don't fascinate me get sidelined very quickly.
I particularly value trust, honesty and loyalty and set high expectations of myself and others around me when it comes to these core values.

MY INTERESTS

If time was of no concern I would probably try almost everything out there. However time happens to be a major concern, so all my projects, hobbies and actual work have to battle it out for supremacy.

Music

I play the electric guitar, taught myself to play charango and prefer to listen to my music on vinyl. My musical taste is pretty varied, but largely revolves around blues, rock, contemporary classical, chill out and reggae.

Photography

A few years ago I inherited a stupidly large collection of Contax/Yashica based camera equipment and that got me started in film photography.
It's a hobby I really enjoy getting into and investing a lot of time in, however, it's often not feasible within the constraints of day to day life.
While I consider film to be superior to digital, I take a lot of my pictures with a FUJI XT-10 out of convenience.

I recently moved to a new place and have to reorganize the whole lot.
Worryingly this isn't even half of it.

Fashion

Most of the time I like to keep things simple and elegant, but tend to err on the side of overdressing. I focus on high quality and value for money, whilst trying to avoid big brands or discounters.
Many of my most cherished items (such as the fur felt hat in my pictures) come from smaller shops I found by accident.
The way fashion can be used to both express yourself and change peoples perception of you is of particular interest to me.

Here I am again. This time failing to put up a straight face for the camera.

Cars

Cars are a subject I can spend forever discussing about. I love studying the technical intricacies, comparing the pros and cons of different models and discussing the merits of one manufacturer over another. Of course what I enjoy most is the actual driving and Germany offers ample opportunity to do just that. This is one of the things I have always missed when I left Germany: The Autobahn, there simply is no substitute.

My pride and joy. I probably spend far too much time washing and waxing this thing.

And finally:

The only serious competition for my girlfriend.

His name is Joe and he is an expert at manipulating me.
He actually belongs to my girlfriend's parents, but we share a deep human to dog connection.

So why am I here?

I have been wanting to write a blog for a while, but I found the effort of setting up and maintaining a WordPress site to be too time-consuming and it prevented me from doing the one thing I set out to do in the first place: writing.
This is why I was so intrigued when I discovered the STEEMIT platform, as it offers me the ability to simply sit down, write and connect with people without needing to worry about the backend of a website.
The plan is to start by simply writing about the things I find interesting and discover my personal style as I go along. You can help me by giving me feedback and letting me know what you would enjoy reading more about.

Thank you for reading my introduction!

I truly hope to provide quality content you will enjoy reading and look forward to reading your comments.
Please feel free to give me your constructive advice and/or justified criticism, as I hope to learn and improve as I go along.

Bienvenue

Let me welcome you to Steemit @Gentbynature . I'm @chrisx and if you need any help don't hesitate to contact or follow me :-)

I really enjoyed reading your introduction. We have a lot in common - I come from South Africa - my interest in music has led me to manage a couple of artists in my time and music and photography is a big interest in my family - my two sons @deimus and @leelektrik and my daughter @edenmichelle are all musicians, videographers and photographers.
I have followed you and look forward to more interesting stories from you. Your writing is interesting - keep it up

Thank you for your positive comment. I'm amazed to see a South African pop up so quickly. We don't seem to be as rare as I thought after all. I have duly followed you to return the favour.

Thank you @gentbynature - I hope you enjoy my posts as much as I enjoyed yours. Did you have a look at my daughter @edenmichelle - singer, songwriter and @danshaw - a new up and coming singer - both from SA but in the UK at present to complete an album and start touring. @leelektrik and @deimus are my sons - also involved in music - videography and making music videos

I noticed your kids are staying in London. I'm actually frequently over there since I still have family living in London. Do your kids regularly perform there? Would be interesting as I'm visiting in September with some friends.

Did you connect with any of them on Steem? Eden and Dan will be in Cyprus from 15th Sept to 25th - but if you are there when they are performing it would be great for you to support them. This is a song of Eden's from YouTube

- she is now doing EDM music and DJ'ing as well. Dan is the "new Adelle"

Eden and Dan will be in Cyprus from 15 Sept to 25 Sept - let me know when you will be in London - will be great if you can connect with them. Eden is now doing EDM and DJing - and Dan is the "new Adelle"

I was quite impressed by how professional the video is. She has a great voice. I haven't fixed any dates for London yet. Will probably fly over in the second week of September and stay a couple of weeks.

Thanks she did the filming on that video herself - and @deimus did the lyric video for her . Great I hope you catch her. Did you connect with her on Steem?

Hey,
Yeah I just dropped her a message, but I've been a bit confused about who is who here. there's @danshaw, @leelektrik, @edenmichelle and @deimus and they all seem to be doing music and videography. I've been enjoying their posts, but can't quite keep them apart yet.

Welcome to Steemit!

Glad to see you @Gentbynature I hope you enjoy your time here, its a great community :) Nice post, Wish you much luck! Cheers! i will follow your account, please follow me at @khunpoom
