Things Prayer Would Not Do
Prayer is a petition to God (or a god) in words or thought, it is an earnest request to get one's desire. Praying is a spiritual exercise which is encouraged by all spiritual leaders, it has a lot of benefit which is received when prayers are answered.
People often make the mistake of thinking that once a prayer is offered everything would go on smoothly, then complacency then sets in.
This post is to point out basic things that praying would not solve, replace or do.
Standing in place for hard work: hard work is simply hard work, it can not be replaced. There are things prayer can do, things like a miracle which has a very low probability. The truth is when we get lazy and neglect hard work on the basis of praying, it is a wrong mentality. Put in hard work then say your prayers as you wish. Do not expect prayers to fill in for hard work.
Covering for lack of knowledge: knowledge is simply information, understanding that is been acquired from experience or education. There are things that are to be learnt, no matter how prayerful a person is, if he/she is not ready to acquire knowledge prayer would not stand in.
Covering up for leadership lapses: leading is by example and also by action. Leaders are good at having strategies and plan, they get things done by actual work. Saying words of prayers alone would not help when a leader fails, lessons has to be learnt and new strategies has to be made.
Covering up for lack of integrity: when you are not been honest or fair, words of prayers would not help alone. You have to be ready to work on your self and earn respect.
Making people love and accept us: people respond to people with bad attitude with contempt. Bad attitude can be fixed once the person involved is ready for a change.
Replacing financial education: financial education is learnt, if you are wasteful in spending and keeps spending on the wrong things prayers cannot bring the lost money back. The individual has to be ready to be educated about how to spend, save and invest money. These cannot be learnt only by praying.
This post is not to discourage people from praying, it is to serve as a wake up call. Do not be complacent, stand up and fix yourself.

Prayer 's importance cannot be over emphasised, but it doesn't cover up or stand in for laziness, bad attitudes and stuffs, it only helps in the smooth flow of our day to day endeavors.
Well said, let me also quickly add that prayers does not change one's character, no matter how hard you pray if you don't have a good relationship with your fellow humans then one will often miss out from favours and blessings because the truth is that God uses people to bless people. I really want to emphasize your second point. I have a friend who kept going around to preach, and he loved praying so much.
I don't have something against that, but what I had against him was the fact that he would do all that and not read. When I queried him, he said he is working for the holy ghost and he would be compensated and made to remember what he does not know..
I would keep telling him that the holi ghost is not a magician and would not bring to his remembrance what he has not read, but he ignored me.
Right now, a lot of our mates are graduates while he is still battling with his extra in school.
