Maturity (part 1)

in #life8 years ago

Hello buddies, we will be exploring in this section the concept of being mature, signs of maturity and the behavioral pattern of a mature individual. Stay tuned as we take a ride.

Maturity is a point in a human's life when he/she is fully responsible for his actions and life, it's when people begin to take certain decisions that will add value to them or not. It's a period of transection from childhood to adulthood. It's very necessary to be careful with the choice of friends at this point. Some friends can have a positive influence while some a negative influence.

I believe maturity doesn't necessarily mean the accumulation of one's age but the ability to take responsibility of one's actions, have a good sense of judgment and not being dependent on others. Maturity lays emphasis more on responsibility, which is the key word. It differentiates a child from an adult.

Let's go further to scrutinize some signs that are associated with maturity. We will examine four points in this section.

Signs Of Maturity

  • Staying Calm. You know a mature adult, should exhibit an attitude of being calm in the midst of challenges, I believe that's one of the signs that qualifies an individual as being mature. In midst of staying calm, he's been calculative, looking for a way out from the challenges. Paying key attention to what will bring about the solution to the issue. That's a good quality of maturity.

  • Being mindful of others. That's another aspect of maturity. The individual shows concern towards other people, he isn't selfish, he thinks good about others, being accommodating towards other people, being able to tolerate others and acknowledging there are individual differences. That's a sign of maturity.

  • Not getting annoyed easily. When an individual doesn't get angry at every slightest thing, he's said to exhibit maturity. Like I stated previously, maturity is not about the accumulation of one's age but the ability to be held accountable for the decisions taken. It's high level of maturity to overlook some certain things that would normally get you upset and by doing that, you can coexist with people around you.

  • Tolerance. It's not so easy to tolerate the errors made by people, but believe me, to tolerate is an attitude of a mature mind. We know there are individual differences and the ability to be certain about this makes tolerance become easy. You wouldn't expect your fellow individual to reason or to act the way you do, when the understanding is clear, you can be able to tolerate people around you.

In conclusion, it's very important to note here that being mature is the ability to appreciate others, their personality, and their reasoning without judging them, nor finding faults in them or humiliating them. I believe you can make your points nicely without being harsh or violent.

Thanks for reading.
