Herrrooo Dreamers,

Updating everyone on our Darkest Dungeon progress before proceeding on to the slate of Sunday Speedruns.

Last night : FAILED.

We lost 5 total characters and barely progressed towards our goal of finishing the end game content which leaves us with another week before we can fist pump another completed play through. However, we move forward because we experienced an immense amount of support and love all night long. The Dreamers and many other communities filled the chat with warm and fun loving messages encouraging growth among one another which just made my night.

Fast Forward to tonight!

Tonight marks 2 consecutive years of speedrunning on Twitch. I have been streaming on Twitch for 3 years and 2 months (the last 33 months in a row) and picked up speedrunning thanks to FlibbityFlam's suggestions at TwitchCon 2016. He kept telling me it would be a great way to up my Retro content and simply put it has. He was right and I am happy I have chosen the games I did, especially my first ever speedrun game Mega Man 2.

The list of games has continued to grow over the years, but Mega Man 2 is still tops in terms of never getting tired or bored of running the levels with its intoxicating retro beats over and over and over again. This clip showcases that even in the bad moments it really is just a game. I have continued to get better at the game with a current time of 30:26 . When I began speedrunning I wasn't "ready" to do glitches or anything of the sort and this run has currently maintained its glitchless place in my heart (this game has other categories that do allow for skips/glitches referred to as zips.)

For an example this glitch in TMNT IV : Turtles in Time is something Dospostmann and I do every Monday.

As you can tell my willingness to expand into all the realms of speedrunning has begun. I could continue to gush over my love of Mega Man 2 but my tastes do not stop there. Over a year ago the Dreamers voted between A Link to the Past and Mega Man X 100% speedruns and MMX was the narrow winner. I continue to run Mega Man X (which was initially released on the Super Famicom and Super Nintendo systems) and because of speedrunning learned that this game even has an easter egg hadouken you can unlock! If your character has full life and you execute the same inputs if someone were playing Street Fighter that X (which is future Mega Man) can ALSO shoot this overpowering projectile.

I was worried that speedrunning was going to RUIN games for me but instead has brought me to appreciate certain titles even more than ever before. This wonderment has added tremendous replay value to these nostalgic classics in an age where video games are all flash and cash grabs or forced multi player battle royale games. I am not against those that enjoy the FPS or third person shooters; however, they are games that do not interest me when I could be looking to add more games to my slowly growing library.

Tonight we Dream of a personal best in both of these epic titles, but will still relish the constant work put forth to get better at our craft.

Let the Dreams begin and I will see you all tonight!

Awesome, one of my friends was trying to get into the speedrunning format but I don't think he ever did. It certainly looks like fun!

That is awesome the they were even interested in it! I am so happy that I took the dive into back in October 2016, because it has only added another level to my content consumed let alone my love for the games played. I do have a lot of fun playing it, have you considered doing so as well?

I unfortunately don't have the time to game anymore; between commuting to and from work and then the family at home I barely have time to shower haha. I am enjoying an offline game that is a tower defense game similar to the days of Warcraft 3. It's called Crazy Kings for iOS. I get my gaming fix in with this but it's not something you can speed play. Once I get my new laptop hopefully this year I will absolutely be downloading an emulator though so I can play some of those oldschool games! Question though, do you know of an emulator that lets you play old PC games like Age of Empires?

Haha! I totally understand what you are saying, stay clean please. ;)

I hope these resources will help you find some of those basic files you are searching for for the future gaming. https://www.speedrun.com/aoe1/resources

Also, I loved WC3 RTS soooo much!

Awesome, thanks for the info!

Any time! Ask whenever you want to know more.
