New Silver Purchase!

in #silver7 years ago (edited)

Just got these in today. One Roll Of 20 American Eagles! Great addition to my newly started collection.
Please let me know what you think as I'm new to the stacker game. Are eagles worth the premium? Other ideas ? Thanks for checking this out!

I'd imagine coins are worth their weight in silver and the grade they give them. I know coins and their grade is what defines their value. Of course I am no expert. If you ever find a mint wheat penny keep it! I know a guy at a jewelry store that has one thats worth 2 grand, of course its in mint condition :)

Rare coins are where its at, like the wheat penny I was talking about. Its always good to have gold and silver on hand of course, better than having a peice of cotton with a number printed on it in my book thats based on well whatever anyone says its worth...

"Grade" of a coin really only matters to high-brow coin collectors where there are higher premiums for better grades of coins. Some people really like to show off their "mint condition" coins, but that's not really the point.

Standard Silver Eagles are certified & stamped by the U.S. Mint and will not only retain their premium value well, but the overall value of the coin is worth 1 oz. of Silver - wherever Spot Price rests at the time of the sale. Even marked-up & scratched coins will bring you their spot price. Only the most abused coins will even be questioned, in most cases. Personally, I am not interested in the Premiums that are associated with "mint" coins - I stick to Silver Rounds and Bars, because I stack for the weight, not the "collectors' value." In a pinch, you're going to have to haggle with a local merchant over the premium - and that's not good for your side of the negotiations if you're in a tight spot and need the FIAT right now. I buy from the bullion dealers with cheapest premium I can find online. JM Bullion usually gives first time buyers 10 ozs. at Spot Price on first time buys. Check it out here: https://www.jmbullion.com/starter-pack/

Sure, it's a pain in the @$$ to go down to the local bullion dealer, gold & silver store, or pawn shop - but it prevents you from "spending" your money frivolously. I find it a valuable way to assist me in actually saving my money. (I have actually purchased a car and a boat using silver bullion.) Not only that, but the banks can't touch it, its' batteries won't run out, and it's still good if/when there's an internet or a power outage. Additionally, precious metals will be taking a moonshot, at some point in time, during the upcoming global monetary reset - it is an inevitability. People have been "preaching" about this for so long that many silver stackers have all but given up any hope of that ever happening - but I believe I will live to see it in my lifetime.

Silver Eagles are a great investment - for the long haul. However, what you gain in financial security is lost in liquidity - as silver does take an extra bit of effort to convert back into FIAT currency (much like the current situation with cryptos).

Congratulations on your great decision to buy and hold physical bullion! It will never be worth ZERO, like paper dollars will be, one day.

Good information to know, I really should start investing in silver and gold! :)

I bough these from JM ! Haha
Actually ordered a 10oz bar today! Will post soon when it arrives and I'll start using that tag too!

A lot for people swear by eagles man I think you made a great purchase. I'm not great at giving advice I usually pay a premium to have one of everything and some unique stuff for my collection.

Wow this is really cool. I hear people talk about investing in silver, I never really pictured how the actual product would look for some reason. Never really thought about it. Looks nice!! Makes me really want to look into buying some. Is this the standard product somebody recieves when they buy silver? In coins like this? Very cool!I know its sort of dumb to look into buying something because it looks nice, but seeing the silver in a picture like this makes me more interested for some reason.

Their are several ways to buy silver coins. You can buy them individually or a tube like the original poster did. I have a single 2017 first strike MS -69 . If you are from the US you can buy from several reliable sources on line. These same companies will even buy them back. If you want to sell them at a latter date.

Thanks for further info! I appreciate it, I am starting to save up! Can't wait to have some silver, It will really compliment my crypto collection, virtual currency and some silver, it will feel good!

These are Gov minted coins
There are also private mints that make coins with different designs. I'm kinda a newbie but I actually just ordered my first 10oz bar ! I'll post next week when it arrives!

Wow a 10oz bar would be something! I will definitely be checking that out! Just your comment alone helped me learn more than I ever have about silver investments. I will be doing research now, Steem on!

I buy from SDBullion.com they list a buyback price beneath each coin. Sunshine minting coins have the lowest price and highest buyback price, compared to other "generics" local coin shops may vary but that is all I know about silver coin buyback. I understand Govt mints charge a premium that's why they cost more than "generics."

ahhh, I can remember that day when I received my first tube of anything and yes it was ASE's .... congrats amigo

do you, by any chance, scan your change for dimes and quarters 1964 and earlier?

Yea but hardly any luck these days,

ikr... I have a bunch of 1964 nickles which I recently found out aren't silver. quarters and dimes are harder to come by

Only dimes and Up are silver, nickels never were

Yea people in the 70s and80s took em all
I've only found 2 dimes in years of paying attention

well.... there were silver nickels from 1942-1945....wikipedia.org -
Jefferson nickel

U know what I mean
Besides ww2
Don't sweat it I had a buddy think the same thing! It happens

just sayin ;-)

Great post, your pictures are fab as well. I dont really like eagles but i do like to see a big pile of silver. What else do you stack?

Just wait till you really get the bug ;-D
Good photos by the way, think i'll invest in a decent camera so i can make my own pin ups instead of drooling over other folkses porn.
Only got a few eagles they're not really my cup of tea, but they are a good way to gain weight .
Your jumping into stacking at the right time, before silver takes a rocket ship to the moon. Good luck to you and happy stacking

nice...I guess in america the ASE is the goverment backed coin and good for stacking weight and everyone knows what they are. easily liquid
I'm in the uk and stack and due to tax rules i stack mainly coins which the design changes year on year. I don't think it really matters what you stack as long as you know what you buy is right for you...

Hey guys I posted my only other silver. check out my feed for the 10oz maple leaf!
