The first thing that interested me about this is wondering whether there is any truth the shark's growth will really be limited by the fish tank. I'm no scientist so I have absolutely no idea how accurate this statement is. I did a little "Googling" and found out a little bit about this per (1) "injaf.org" and (2)"skeptics.stackexchange.com. Here's what both sites have to say about the matter:

There are a variety of factors that can limit a fish’s ability to grow properly but the size of the tank isn’t one of them. A fish that has not grown to its full size is said to be ‘stunted’. This means that a fish has not grown at the right speed, and to the right size, for its species. If a fish kept in a small tank is moved to a larger one it may well have a growth spurt as it takes advantage of improved living conditions. This can add to the illusion that it ‘grew to the size’ of the small tank and is now ‘growing to the size’ of the new, bigger one. injaf.org

What really stunts a fish’s growth is poor water quality and improper care. In smaller aquariums or bowls, water quality is typically very poor. With little or no filtration and infrequent water changes, goldfish suffer. The stunting that results is not a good thing. Rather, it is a sign of ill health, and, frequently, stunted fish take on a deformed appearance and die at a young age. skeptics.stackexchange.com

There you have it. The theory is debunked in that it is not the size of the fish tank per se that causes the stunting of the shark.

Now we go to the second premise of the post which states that the people around us determines our growth. Is this true? Is our growth dependent on the people we associate with everyday? To a certain extent, this can be accurate. The saying, "Birds of a feather . . ." rings so true. "When with eagles, soar like one. When with turkeys gobbledygook like one." However, this presupposes that a person cannot think or have the capacity to decide by themselves but must be dependent on the people around him. My take here is that people are not like birds or sharks. People are not like the lower creatures but can think and use reason to discern for themselves what can be good and bad for them. If sharks or fish need good water quality, filtration and good care it is the same with us, hoomans. Regardless of who we hang around with or where we live, our growth does not depend on them entirely but also on the quality of our upbringing, on the values and morals that have been inculcated in us by our parents and teachers, and on a good and solid education. A good foundation in Christian morals cannot also be ignored as it is an important aspect in becoming a well rounded person. It will stiffen our backs so we are not easily influenced nor swayed by the world and our environment.

This is a lifesaver especially when we are led astray as it can help bring us back on track. You can be the catalyst to effect the change needed wherever and whomever you may be. You just have to switch to your higher mind against using your lower mind. Small thinking people will more often than not find the littlest thing upsets them, ready to lose their cool and put others down without thinking twice. Just the opposite of what people with higher minds wouldn't do. So begin to switch to your higher mind when your lower mind is taking over. We are meant to live to greater heights and aspirations, to live to our fullest potential and live wholly satisfying lives, regardless of the fish tank we find ourselves in.

Our surroundings can either hold us back , or let us flourish , either way you still have to put the work in .... and overcome some obstacles along the way .

So very true. You just hit this nail on its head dead on. Being the change agent in a group require effort and is not a walk in the park. Thanks for your insight.
