Cacti To Go

20200120_150824.jpg

Thinking of growing these beauties in the garden. In fact my wife has actually started with it but have not been quite successful yet. A lot of the small ones which she hoped would grow eventually withered and died. But with more experience and knowledge gained from Google she might just succeed.

Photos below are of her surviving cacti.

These 3 little ones were holding on for dear life but are now on the road to recovery.

I do not know what specie this is but is growing steadily.

Bundle of joy.

Same specie as those in the previous picture except for the one at the back (the tall one) which is the lone survivor of its kind.

That's all for now folks but definitely not the last. I was inspired to post this after @ewkaw shared photos of her mom's cacti which were not only healthy but bloomed with beautiful flowers as well. Amazing.

Thanks for visiting. Hope you enjoyed this post. (All photos are mine.)

cool thorns, but I still prefer more "friendly" plants :)))

Hi. I just checked your blog and found out you are into succulents. My wife has one of these (just one) which is shown on the second picture of this post. But seeing your blog, I think I will have to convince her to grow more of them :) Thanks for visiting and upvoting. I just followed you.

yes, I noticed him right away :) I think this is an echeveria "black prince" :) many and many types of succulents, I don’t know how to limit myself to just one;)

Oh my! Those are awesome!

So let me tell you - the tall ones are usually harder to bloom and they need more time to be mature. Some even 60 years (not yours though).

The smaller ones look very cute. The one with flat stems is an Opuntia.
The little rounder one could Echinopsis. They usually have stunning huge flowers that last only one day.
On the second photo you have Echeveria and Aloe.

Make sure they have very well drained soil and are watered only after the soil is dry. I killed some of mine with overwatering or when they were getting a bit too much rain. They hate to get roots wet for too long. Maybe that was the cause of the death. Such pity - they were gorgeous!

Thank you very much for sharing your experience with cacti. They are very helpful and informative. My wife now is even more determined to expand her cacti collection.

Meantime thanks for identifying the species. Will be Googling them in a while. Also thanks for your time and visit. Very very much appreciated.

I am more than happy to help out with what I know :D
Cacti are awesome. Even if they will not bloom for you I am sure your wife can grow them successfully :)

I know she'll give it her best as she always does. Thanks again @ewkaw.
