R who made 6 months to ball at night. The wonderful story you didn't know about Premadasa stadium...
Sri Lankan cricket main house aka Keththarama stadium (R. I believe that the new generation is aware of the wonderful story of Premadasa Stadium ) Mr. Ranasinghe Premadasa, who was the Prime Minister in 1985, is traveling to Australia for an official tour, where he gets the opportunity to watch a day and night cricket match at the Perth stadium.
There he had a desire to build a stadium like this in his own country and immediately after he arrived in Sri Lanka, the chief engineer of the engineering corporation called him "Can we build a field for balling at night" asking him. And there he waits for a while after rejecting and replies "Can you sir". It's not because he can but because of the love for his job, because Mr. Premadasa was not there, he knew he didn't like to hear the words "Can't". Then to chief engineer Premadasa prime minister says "I'll give you 6 months to build this". Chief engineer leaving the place with nothing to do.
Premadasa prime minister is giving all the required money to the engineering corporation. Doing needles here in 4 months apart from those electric light towers. Many times during the construction of this stadium the prime minister comes to observe this. After creating playground the prime minister asks engineering corporation what more do you want from me. And there they are betraying that they are not aware of installing electric bubbles into this stadium. After investigating this, the Prime Minister sends engineers of the corporation to Australia to get the knowledge and technology needed for electrical bubbles.
They meet engineers from Perth Stadium and the stadium chief where they provide the technology they need and ask “How long do you have to do these things”.
And there us engineers say “only 3 more months” they smile and say “it took us over a year to put bulbs in this that’s not possible”. After arriving in Sri Lanka, all the necessary equipment is received within a month and the Prime Minister is giving the opportunity to get time for another month.
Then they are able to install electric bubbles in 3 months. But even though games can be played under that light light, that light isn't enough for a camera. And then they inform the prime minister about this. There the prime minister says what should be done now. There, engineers are able to bring more electric bubbles brighter than these electric bubbles and reverse old electric bubbles.
Officer in charge of Perth Stadium is also invited to the after construction opening ceremony. There he is amazed to see the stadium and puts a note saying “this stadium is better than Perth stadium”.
Mr. Ranasinghe Premadasa showed how to use efficiently using local institutions like engineering corporations. This stadium was named as "Keththarama" stadium. After the death of Mr. Premadasa, this stadium "R. "PREMADASA" named as International Cricket Stadium.
