You are not special.

in #freewrite7 years ago

Our whole lives we are taught that we are special. We are unique. We are "Mama's little angel" and other such nonsense. But we're not. In a million other universes we're just a little different, and we're all still "Mama's little angel." Out of a million options with the little spermies, it rolled the dice and came up with us...but in all the other worlds where we're just a little different, just how different are we? Maybe we moved to the same places. So did we end up with the same friends as kids? Same teachers? All those little things in our lives made us who we are.

So yeah, you are just a little different than everyone else. You're just a little different than every other you in every other universe. But that's not really much, is it? Unless in one universe you look like a different race or something. Then you might think you're a bit different. You're both still you though.

It's the same way with all humans. You are not like your friends. But maybe you have a few things that make you alike. Maybe you all like the same football team. Or you all watch some of the same shows, and watch them together. Maybe you like the same band. These tiny similarities bring us together. But you see, we're a lot more similar than that. If we were really different, we couldn't understand each other at all.

Those larger differences, cultural differences, those are what make wars. There are currently other cultures on the planet that are just a bit behind us when it comes to equal rights. So we want to blast them into the stone age. Oh, you make women wear robes? Now you must die. Cuz it's not like we don't have our own stupid requirements with clothing.

We can identify with them though. We have seen thousands of stories like their's on TV. We have read about them in books. We are all just living out derivative fiction. Sure, the stories are different enough to not get sued, but are they really different?

If you were truly different, no one would be able to sympathize with you. You'd be well and truly alone. No one could understand what it was like. Then you would kill yourself, because no one could understand your troubles. Then there wouldn't be anyone truly unique anymore.

Our cloth requirements are evolving into almost no clothes xD now everyone seems to want to wear ripped clothes and girls like to use as little as possible(not that I complain :P)

We all have different tastes, different upbringings, different likes, but we have things that we all have in common, we are all humans that live on planet earth, people should realize that...

Sometimes I think a little more empathy and time to think why a person acts in a certain way could make the world work better, people don't often have the time to even think and just want to release the stress of work on to others... I've seen people being racist because and I quote "Most blacks are criminal"... well, if you lived in a screwed gang-ridden neighbor and were constantly afraid for ur life and constantly being told to join a gang would u act in a different way?

Or "Most Muslims are terrorists..." if you lived in a country without education and since you were born u were constantly reminded that you need to die for your god and kill the infidels, would u act any different then they act?

I truly think this all comes down to time, empathy and knowledge... Time to think about the issue, empathy and knowledge to understand why a certain person acts the way he acts.

We are all very similar, we are all humans, we can sympathize with others if we only had the time to do it...

if you lived in a country without education and since you were born u were constantly reminded that you need to die for your god and kill the infidels

It's not much different with education, or just renaming the enemy. Many here are taught that they're the enemy and we have to destroy them all, etc, etc.

We're all products of our environment.

I truly think this all comes down to time, empathy and knowledge... Time to think about the issue, empathy and knowledge to understand why a certain person acts the way he acts.

I think many won't ever come to any realization, because their brain just never clicks into that direction. They have to realize that they're human...and that's a bit too far for some people. We've done the dehumanizing thing to our enemies for a long time. Now, it's like it comes natural.

Right in the Harley Quinn's fan that lives in the 42 house in that picture
