GOING for my 2ND #rapchallenge CAMPIONSHIP//WHICH BEAT SHOULD I BRING IT WITH THIS WEEK??//GEECHI DAN

in #rapchallenge7 years ago

I am currently the #rapchallenge crown holder going for my second championship this week.

Wish me luck everyone! I wanted to get your opinion on what beat you feel I would do justice with this time around. I must say I am a bit intimidated with this week's selection of beats. I usually try to avoid west coast sound as much as possible. Quite frankly, it's not my thing. Don't get me wrong, I'm a big fan of west coast music but as far as implementing the rhythm for myself...ehhhh....not my thing. Nevertheless I have to choose from the following beats;

Ice Cube - Today was a Good day
Tupac - Hail Mary
Warren G & Nate Dogg - Regulators

To be honest, these are extremely challenging beats because the rhythm is very relaxed, along with the tempo. What I mean is that while there is energy within the mood of the beat, the main energy has to come mostly from the lyricist. When you listen to each of these beats, you can't help but to remember the original track very vividly. Every hip hop fan remembers Ice Cube's - Today was a good day. His lyrics played the major role of that track. It was just satire that the beat is so relaxed. I would say the same exact thing for Warren G and Nate Dogg's regulator. While Regulators instrumental itself was relaxed, Warren G. painted a very "hood" picture. There was an actual stick up detailed within the song. All the while, this very lazy and relaxed beat is playing. It had a perfect California vibe.

The Elephant in the room - Tupac's - Hail Mary.

Here's the dilemma, this is a classic battle instrumental in my opinion. Tupac's - Hail Mary is the perfect beat to make a statement. I even know for a fact that I can quite possibly win this if I use that beat. This is where the dilemma begins. I think everyone--at least the ones that want the crown for me--are going to be tying to use this beat. And I don't blame them. This is what you SHOULD DO if you want to take the crown.
The thing is....I felt I made a very strong statement last #rapchallenge. My goal is different now. I want to show that I am more that just a "spitter", and I am well prepared for more than just a "battle". I want to walk out of this completion and leave all doubt in any contestants and participating fan's mind that I am in fact, THE BEST!

Fighting MYSELF

The battle is now against myself...What angle should I now approach this competition to show that I am the best?? And so I ask you this question? Does the fact that you win make you the best? What makes someone the best?

I think you should do today was a good day. If you are going to keep your crown dont keep it with the beat they are expecting you to

Very interesting perspective @dazzdee. I won't say a word but let's just say I completely agree with you. So you would say, that's the most challenging beat in your opinion then?

I think ice cube it was a good day its barley been done as in a different person on that beat. Not everyone can bless the mic too it 😁
