Press Bias

As I have told you, I, every day take a look at the British press. Why? First of all most US newspapers just let you read a couple of articles a month, second the language helps out, newspapers in English, at least to me, appear to cover more topics than Spanish ones, which are the two languages I read. And third I find the way these newspapers try to push people towards their biases funny.

I here show a screen print of The Express talking about the imminent Russian invasion of Ukraine. I have no idea if this will happen, the invasion has been imminent for months, but in February the British press has exacerbated it. And on this topic they all seem to agree, the invasion is going to happen. Why? Because US and British and other intelligence agencies say it will. Now I don't really know if these services have said that or its just these newspapers thinking it is so. Of course, I wish nothing happens, war is horrible, and it is all for the economic interests of the few. But it seems a lot of people want war, I wonder if real soldiers are keen on going to war.

But what is funny is that for months before this Russia - Ukraine problem, the British newspapers, both pro and anti Brexit ones, were fixated on whether article 16 of the Northern Ireland protocol should be triggered. Well nothing happened in that respect, everything is as it was before, but it seems this has been shelved, something that was pictured as essential for the continuous existence of the UK is no longer newsworthy.

So what is my view on this? Just that the powerful use the press, whatever type, left, right, north, south etc. to try to influence people with news that might or not be true or to which opinion has been added and presented as truth. In conclussion, take what you read on newspapers or internet blogs with a lot of salt, and read both sides, you might get a better idea of what is happening this way.

And eventually all this dubious news is read via Whatsapp messages, on Facebook even in places like Steemit, with the added problem of the ones writing it putting a little more spin on the news. Always double check before you forward "News" you might be actually fomenting a world of lies.
