Believing In My Dreams; My Lesson For You To Scale Through Hard Times

in #steemitisbeautiful8 years ago

Life is easy, Life is easy I say when you are making it and getting it.

Years ago, I was a struggling young boy with million dollar ideas, I had a lot of dreams I wanted and still, want to accomplish but there was no finance to bring it into reality.

In 2011, @gbenga wanted to go to the university to study medicine so as to become what I wanted for myself but I had no sponsor, Things were very hard; as hard as a rock. I went to families and friends to assist me with #100,000 (one hundred thousand) which is about $274 USD with the current exchange rate of 1 USD to 305 NGN.

I went to meet the family members and friends, I did not go to 1, not 2 or 3, I went to 7 of my paternal and maternal family members I knew and you know what, they all turned me down, giving one excuse or other. I kept on going from one house to another for days, weeks and months until I missed the admission. Finally, I realised I was just wasting my time, Nobody was willing to help.

I realised I was wasting my time and nobody was willing to help

I was a nobody, someone from the lowest level of life; what do I have to offer them. They turned me down without looking at me twice. I never allowed it kill my dreams, my vision and goal. I believed in my dreams, so I nurtured them, I had to find a way out of my present condition. I continued on my journey and I believed my dreams were going to become realities. I went to do work in a factory at a young age.It took me two (2) years to raise #150,000 ($490) just to be able to pay for my fees in school.

I eventually gained admission to the university in 2013 to study microbiology for 4 years and this is my final year in the university.

I was introduced into steemit by a very good friend of mine @dammylohar. and today 6 year after my family rejected me, they now call me one after the other asking if I'm done with school. These people forgot about me totally when I needed them the most. Now they have come.

They now tell me to come visit them. some promise to get me a job that will pay $30+ a month. Funny isn't it, well I haven't given them my reply yet, but I'll tell you; It is a NO, a capital letter NO. not because I'm proud or I haven't forgiven them, I will tell you the reason at the later part of my post.

If you believe in your dreams and work hard towards it, those who see you as nobody will come back looking for you; I tell you, they will come.

To my fellow mates out there who have great dreams and visions; whatever it is you want to do in this life, just make a step. Don't be discouraged by haters and people who do not believe in you or when they do not want to help you up. Don't relent instead try harder.

Do not think someone somewhere will come save you, some will always give excuse so instead save yourself. Some people will probably not help you accomplish your dream so you have to fight for your dream just as I am and I promise you, dont who dont believe in you will come when you make it.

The stone the builder rejected got to know about steemit from @dammylohar and Idecided to make every minute I spend on steemit count. I promised myself to introduce great mind who want to fight for their dreams into steemit and I think i have been able to invite great minds like @ehiboss, @illuminatus, @yaradua @mcdavids, @anyagladys, @steve1122 @bettykatty @oluwatobiloba, @marsharatti and so many more...

Steemit has been a blessing to me and i am greatful to as many steemian who have been supportive in diffrent ways, from mentoring to upvoting, to resteeming and encouraging, I am really grateful.

Thanks to steemins you follow and upvote me as i hit 380+ followers.

Now the reason why i am not collecting he job offer is not because i'm proud but because i $30+ is what steemit can give me on a post and more.

Thanks to everyone.....

Your humble boy Owolabi Gbenga

Congratulations on all your achievements. And the best thing is that you all earned it yourself. You can be really proud of yourself.

Now, please don't show the same attitude you encountered when you were younger to others following their dreams. Maybe you'll be in a position to help a young dreamer getting the job of his/her dreams in the future... Who knows?

Thank you very much @hagbardceline for your words of advice.. i will try my best to help young dreamers in anyway i can.

Thank you very much for taking time to read my post, I really appreciate it

Keep pushing man, nothing can stop you now!!

Thank you very much bro. I really wish you best in all you do. Steem on
