Becoming My Own Boss.

in #work4 years ago

There is always a strong argument between myself and my friend whenever she brings up the topic of getting a job, I never told her the reason behind why I decided that I was never going to work under anyone until the last time we had a fight.
At some point, she thought I was just too proud to be reasoned with and I could not see things from her own point of view, she wanted to employ someone to help her run her own business while she works under someone else and get paid.

I think we almost got on the same page the day her sales representative decided to quit work on a Monday morning, it was at that point she realized that she would have locked up her business place if she was working in a private firm where she will not have the access to quit immediately.

As a young chap, my father was the regional manager for a very reputable company in my country, I knew my Dad provided us with lots of money to take care of our needs and even more, but we hardly got to see my Dad because we will go to bed before he gets back and by the time we wake up in the morning, Dad has gone to work again.
It was an inconvenient situation that we had to live with, if we wanted Daddy to keep bringing money home, we had to get used to not seeing him at home.

During the time my Dad was working in the company, he started a paint company where he employed someone whom he believed could be "trustworthy", to help monitor his business.
Despite my Daddy's dedication to this company, he was fired without notice or any consideration, my Dad returned home in a sad mood and after a week he decided to return to his paint business and pay full attention to it, only to realize it was ruined completely, the trust worthy employee had ruined everything my Dad worked for and had started his own paint business.

We went back to square one, because everything my Dad saved has been invested into the paint company, in no time we had almost nothing to eat and we could not afford filling a gas and we resulted to picking fire wood to cook the little things we had available to eat.
After my Dad's experience, I resulted in my mind never to work under anyone, to me I felt my Dad has been robbed of the opportunity of having time to set his path straight early in life, but I guess everyone has a right to their own opinion and if everyone becomes company owners, then who are we going to employ?
I know it is not easy to start off a project, it is going to take lots of skill, sacrifice and efforts, but with proper monitoring, it is going to pay off at the end of the day.
