Space sandblasting

Except in space the debris is quite a bit bigger than sand.

This is more particularly the case when you are a moon orbiting a gas giant. The gas giants within our solar system Jupiter, Saturn and Neptune have a tendency to capture a large amount of material, whether it be dislodged asteroids, comets that wander to close or simple material making its way to the sun.

If these pass within these giants gravitational reach they tend to capture them and while on their course to becoming assimilated they may collide with an orbiting moon and have their journey cut short.

This can result in a very pocked and intriguing cratered moon like Hyperion one of Saturn's moons.

Hyperion, one of the Titans. I think I will use that as a name for one of my next lamps.
