Planting out my golden and purple peas
Hello everyone,
Today I planted my golden and purple podded peas into my raised box and took some photos of the process to show you all.
I constructed a hoop frame with bamboo poles and 2 meter length pieces of plastic pipe I had left over from plumbing in my water line.
Once the frame was secured in place I planted the peas, one at each side of a pole. I had left it slightly late to plant them out (they grew crazy amounts while I was away!) so they needed tying to the poles to keep them upright.
Peas in, it was time to cover the frame with netting to protect them. I get a lot of bugs and even rabbits in this area of the garden so I didn't want to take any chances! I secured the net at the back of the box with pins and clipped down the sides and the front for ease so I can open it up for watering.
I shall be preparing another similar raised box in the coming days to plant out my tray of sugar peas. I will also be laying a gravel floor in this area over a weed resistant textile between the raised boxes and throughout my newly covered poly tunnel, which I will post about as it progresses. It's all happening in my garden!
I hope you enjoyed this post!

I love the ingenuity of using left over materials to create a line of defense for your precious peas, no 'pesky wabbits' (Elmer Fudd voice) will be getting at those.
I look forward to seeing how that whole area of your garden progresses. Greats pics as always, so defined and showing exactly what you want everyone to see!
Pesky wabbits indeed! I am lucky I had the materials at home to recycle and make use of... gardening needn't break the bank if you get creative with what you have. Thanks for stopping by MC :)
Great post and I can’t wait to see purple and golden peas - both are new to me ). That’s a great looking setup to protect from bugs too. Really nice work. 🦋🌈🌴💛🍀❤️
They are new to me too! It will be exciting to see what they turn out like. I'll be sure to post more about them as they grow :) thank you for the lovely comment @sallybeth23!
I just thought this bed looks rather like an old covered wagon from the old Wild West haha I am looking forward to seeing the completed makeover you are giving this area of your garden, it sounds awesome. Resteemed and upvoted.
Haha now you mention it I see it too! It will be great to tidy this area of the garden, I've been working hard on it. Updates to follow :) thank you for the U&R!

Hey @icedrum! Glad you like the structure, it is perfect for the job I think. Thank you for upvoting and resteeming!
What a wonderful garden bed. I love how you constructed your own trellis and the hoops with leftover plastic pipes. Ingenious. Gardeners can be so creative ~ Have to be at times ~ To allow our plantings to thrive.
Look forward to seeing your sweet peas as they really take off now. 🌱🌸🌱
Thanks @allyinspirit! I constructed that raised bed with leftover tongue and groove wood too ;) one must be resourceful where possible. I will be sharing updates as my peas progress!
