From a good friend I had a pleasure to work with while I was at Samsung.
This is Tony. I've known him for over 2 years. He lives on the streets of Portland and struggles with schizophrenia. He has good days and bad. We've had lots of talks and one day (a good clear one) he told our son Kai that, "You're mom & dad won't always be around and you'll have to deal with people like me someday. You have to look in the mirror and decide what kind of person you are; one that pretends not to see me or a man of character that treats everyone the same".
Tony never asks me for money or anything; until 2 days ago. He said, "I know that boy of yours is growing; if you ever have any old worn out hoodies or sweats I'd love to have them".
This morning I was able to deliver some clean clothes to my brother Tony. He wanted to say a prayer of thanks for each other. I'm not sure who is more thankful, me or him.
Thanks for letting me share this beautiful soul, named Tony, with you.

To live is the rarest thing in the world. Most people exist, that is all.

Also remember, sisters make the best friends in the world. As for lovers, well, they'll come and go too. And baby, I hate to say it, most of them - actually pretty much all of them are going to break your heart, but you can't give up because if you give up, you'll never find your soulmate. You'll never find that half who makes you whole and that goes for everything. Just because you fail once, doesn't mean you're gonna fail at everything. Keep trying, hold on, and always, always, always believe in yourself, because if you don't, then who will, sweetie? So keep your head high, keep your chin up, and most importantly, keep smiling, because life's a beautiful thing and there's so much to smile about.
