I think I already expressed my appreciation for this cult title in a previous comment. You said pretty much everything I think about it in this wonderful review: tons of style, arcade but not too much, pirates and gyrocopters.
I still have nightmares about that race in Hollywood, the one with all the stunts. I was NOT a joystick possessor at the time, and I think I've spent more time on that one than on anything else, really. But wasn't it cool when you got a heavy enough plane to allow you to mount .70 cal guns in the front? Didn't you just love watching planes go down like flies?
Anyway, thanks for this trip down memory lane. And be careful what you wish for: a remake of Crimson Skies, today, would probably be a MMO. It sounds cool, but they'd probably end up making a mess out of it.
