Where on Wednesday: Three
It's Wednesday, that most excellent time when the working week has reached its summit and starts heading towards the weekend. Ah, glorious weekend. Wednesday's mean #whereonwednesday posts, that time when somewhere else takes my attention for a few moments to help transition me through the rest of the week.
So, where would I rather be right now? Today it's Venice, Italy, but not just any old Venice, I mean the Venice I experienced with my wife back a few years on our wedding anniversary.
The October day had started overcast, clouds that broke into a solid rain by mid-morning, and whist we don't mind a little rain we had hoped for clear skies on that day as we had a gondola ride planned for our anniversary. We went for breakfast and explored a few indoor attractions hoping the clouds would break and by 2pm the sun was shining and we headed over to the wharf to grab our gondola.
As it turns out our wedding anniversary is also my wife's birthday so I'd arranged a light lunch on the gondola which was really nice and the gondolier took us on a nice ride around the most popular spots and some out of the way canals where it was quieter. It was a nice way to spend the afternoon and nice way to spend our anniversary.
Later that evening we headed out for a nice little meal and bottle of local wine. I'd arranged a small birthday cake with the restauranteur which wasn't the easiest thing considering the language barrier but it all went really well and we went back to our hotel declaring the day a success.
I love having memories like this, they mean so much more than the material things we have, and they provide comfort, solace or simply a place to go when I'd rather be somewhere other than where I am. That's what #whereonwednesday is about.
Anyway, that's where I'd rather be and what I'd rather be doing right now. If you want to join in on #whereonwednesday just tag it in your post, on a Wednesday and away you go. It's not a challenge or anything dumb like that, neither do you get anything for it. It's just a chance to post your thoughts and maybe a picture or two.
Design and create your ideal life, don't live it by default and aim small, miss small.

You know, with Google Streetview and a VR headset, you can travel the world. Its not the same of course, but it's a few hours of fun.
That's one way to go I guess.

Venice ... I had the opportunity to go a few years ago, and I really loved it !! well, I loved all the places I visited in Italy!
I'm sure it was a very special day, being Venice and the gondola ride, very romantic.

I created the #whereonwednesday tag as I always found myself thinking about other places, and not work, on a Wednesday. It's half way through the week and a good time to be thinking about getting out of the office so why not?

I also experienced Venice on my latest vacation and the best memory is that Gondola ride as my daughter was marveled at the years of history (and the talent of those drivers or whatever you call them)! Definitely a memory that will stick for years to come!

It was...Not perfect, nothing ever is, but perfect enough. Travel is one of the most amazing things in our lives and we are fortunate to be able to do so.
I haven't traveled outside the country very much. Only to Canada. But we have taken many trips inside the US and I have had fun on most of them. Or at least some part of each was fun.
