The weekend forecast is...

in OCD6 years ago

The weekend is here; I officially declare it the weekend on Friday despite having to work on Friday's...I use the term work quite loosely of course...It's more, not working than actually working I suppose, but you can't blame me for applying a little poetic license right? It is, after all, the weekend.

We have a fairly unstructured weekend ahead of us to be honest. Saturday my wife is working, the term working actually applies when she does it, and because I can't go to the range and hang out with my bro's and bro-ette's shooting guns I'll be home performing some chores, mainly of the garden variety.

We have a fairly decent-sized yard you see, and it take a little work to maintain. It's mainly lawn mowing, edging and weeding although there's hedge trimming, shaping, clipping, pruning, fertilising, sweeping, path pressure-cleaning, re-planting and other associated things that are required to keep it looking in top shape.

That's not to mention the house related things, the external and internal maintenance items that we need to do to keep the old place ship shape.

I'm sizing up a retaining wall fix on Saturday. It's a wall I built myself many years ago and it's starting to dislodge itself through ground movement and needs a revamp. Whilst I'm no garden architect I'm certainly capable of making a small retaining wall but I want to do it properly, and that means planning. I've been planning for about three years now, you might call it avoiding I guess, and so I figure I better get it done before Faith get's mad with me.

I also have some clipping and shaping to do which Faith will help me with after she finishes at work; I tend to be a little heavy-handed in that regard, so she prefers to do it lest I cut something off at the base!

We recently bought some battery-powered garden equipment, the Ryobi One+ stuff, so she's keen to try that out and get the garden looking nice prior to winter setting in. Winters here are mild and filled with many 15-20°C blue-skied days so we're lucky - No snow.

Saturday night is Westworld smashing time - We've neglected it a little as we've been so busy but it's locked in so we are looking forward to that couch-time with the cats, and snacks. (I'm making a legit cheese board.)

Sunday is Mother's Day here so we will take Faith's mum out somewhere. Cafe's and restaurants are all still closed though, but that's not our style anyway. We're wilderness people so we'll hit the road for some remote place and have a picnic, despite the weather not looking the best; The weekend forecast is 17°C, partially cloudy with a 30% chance of rain. Still, in South Australian terms that probably means 20°C without a drop of the wet stuff. It's all good y'all.

Saturday I'll gather some stuff together and get organised and Sundays operation mother's day will deploy around 10am Sunday.

Faith and I are simple people who avoid crowds and surrounding ourselves with lot's of people. We have a small group of friends, good friends, and feel content seeing them occasionally and spending quality time. We also love the outdoors and spend a lot of time out there seeking a feeling of togetherness and also feeling closer to nature, the planet, our own feelings and emotions.

I believe doing so is a key element to a feeling of wellbeing and especially in the troubled times we live in it can help bring a feeling of calm, control and confidence all of which are critical to effective decision-making and the right attitude.

Anyway, I better get to work, which roughly translates to not working at all. I hope y'all have a great end of the week and the weekend ahead is full of all the stuff that makes you feel alive and in control of your life. Whatever you do, do it with passion, personality and effort.

Drop a comment with your weekend plans below, I'm interested.
