My sight is now rectified
I wrote a blog couple days about about a damaged sight on one of my guns which, somehow or other, I had damaged. I think I know how I did it now...Whilst holstered a few weeks ago one of the guys at my club, also holstered, ran into me whilst walking past. Our guns clashed and I think that's what did the damage. I use a Double Alpha (Alpha X) holster that does not completely cover the gun. Anyway, I learned my lesson and will be extra careful from now on. Read that last post here
So, I had to order a new front sight and optic which came in yesterday. Tonight I had the chance to demount the damaged one and fit the new one which is great because I'm shooting IPSC at my club in the morning.
Below you can see the new sight fitted with the old, damaged, one sitting just above in in the green circle. It took a little while to fit, not because it's hard, just really fiddly and to be honest the retaining pin was super-tight to replace. Fortunately I have the right tools and a little know-how and it got done. (I only swore a few times).
Here's the old front sight. You can see the damage circled in green. The silver part you see is where it was knocked and kicked up a burr. I have since filed off the burr and will retain this sight for a spare should I need it in the future.
So, tomorrow I'm shooting at the Christmas match which will hardly be taken seriously by most, including me. (It's more about the BBQ afterwards!) I'll be working on getting familiar with the new LoKgrips fitted recently to the gun and starting to ramp up for the State Titles in Victoria in February 2019. Considering the front sight has been removed and replaced I'll need to check the gun's zero but I won't have a chance to do so prior to the match tomorrow. I'll get it sorted afterwards though and all should be well. To be honest the Front sight should be in exactly the same position as the one I removed but it pays to check. I'm pretty pleased I got this sorted as I was really annoyed about damaging the gun. Now I'm happy and all is well.

Bummer about the sight, but always a good excuse to upgrade to some Tritium sights! Sounds like fun.
Good luck in your match! Still waiting for my slide to come back from getting milled. Hoping for it to return in the next week or two.

Lol, yes, very impatient. I waited a long time for this conversion and upgrade. Really hoping to have it back before Xmas and get some range time in!

The part was held locally in New South Wales fortunately. It turned up at my door in two days.fortunately.
I'm sure the match (BBQ) will be good. It's the one match of the year that guns take second place. Should be good, hanging out with some of bros and bro-ettes with no one trying to kick each other's ass on the course of fire. 😂
