Relationship Etiquette 101 by gailbelga (edited ver.)
Introduction
Aside from the vast information of breakthroughs and the happenings in the world that we could get in the internet, we can also find a vast personal information of almost everyone. A good example of this is Facebook.
Facebook as we all know is one of the biggest social media platform that is used by users to connect to other people across the globe. It also allows groups to promote their causes. To some extent, it has also been used for political reasons. In the Philippines, it is evident how both sides had been arguing almost every second!
Now going back to the personal level, the social media interference has allowed users to promote themselves and their happenings -- which a part of that includes their "relationships".
Reading sweet stories in your timeline could be very inspiring right? But at some point, it could be very annoying according to one friend. Hmmm, anyway, the following discussions were based on their point of view. Winks
Can you relate to this? Or have you been guilty of doing such thing?
Anyway, I for one had been once so open about my relationship online that I forgot it was too much. Hence, base from my experience and most of these are from others came this Relationship Etiquette 101.
According to my friends, most of these applies to Filipino because as they say, Filipinos love to post almost everything online. Not all Filipinos of course, just most of the social media users which I suppose is more than or equal to 50%.
First: Never ever share your sexperiences with your partner online. Well, actually you can but it is in pornhub or other pornographic sites where minors should not have access to or even in STEEMIT. But please, just write it only, no sadistic (or bdsm, just that because I forgot the meaning of itd acronym), lewd, and "user-friendly" photos.
You can even write a series about it online and get paid. Just make sure you do not drop down the real name of your partner (partners for instance if you are like one of my exes). That would be very awkward. It would be more awkward if you kept photos and videos of it and your partner is a minor. Please no. Just no.
You were able to enjoy a good sex and earned from writing as well!
Second: Stop sharing it to the public as if you will never break up!
Walang forever mga ulol. -bitter friend na tinampal ko after saying that
I honestly learned a lot from this one. Hahaha! Compared to the past relationships I had, a low-key relationship is actually nice for me. It works well for me and for some. Basically, how we handle our relationships depend on our preferences and personalities.
For me, at least I would not have a hard time explaining to others how and why my boyfriend and I broke up. I would not also need to delete tone of photos of us together just in case.
Well, one album just for you and your boyfriend on social media would actually do the trick. It works on facebook but not on twitter, steemit (when it is 7 day old post or more), instagram, and other micro-blogging sites.
According to a friend
Instead of posting a lot of your selfies on your trips and dates on Facebook and Instagram, opt for having these in hard print. Albums are great and customizable! But if you really want to save it forever, put it on blockchain by making a blog entry of it on steemit, photos on steepshot, or even recorded videos and live videos at d.tube and d.live! Nasave mo na nga ito forever sa blockchain, magkakapera ka pa after seven days!
The third rule according to a friend: Please, never ever brag to us how great your partner is, tell us to get someone like him/her but not him exactly.
We are glad how happy you are, but what is your point of saying that? - bitter friend
We all have our own preferences. You might consider that the standard of your perfect relationship is not the same of everyone. Add also in your mind that not all boys or girls are drooling or brooding over your love interest.
Well, I understand my friend's point on this one. It may seem to be so annoying to others. But hey, if it has annoyed you then we can always click the unfollow button. In such way, you can actually minimize the chance of ending up in an argument. Winks
Just to get a bit serious though, the last etiquette would be for you not to post the exact location where you are dating on your social media accounts.
Your posts may be used by those who prey over you or your partner. Security means a lot and being safe pays a lot.
You can actually post it, there is nothing wrong. Just make sure you are careful in giving details to the public or limit the number of your audiences
On a serious note, we all live freely online. Do not take this seriously and offensively. Take it lightly though except for the last advise.

keep your relationship private but not a secret. posting online especially if you are quite excited about an event or wants to celebrate an occasion such as anniversary is quite sweet. but posting about EVERY LITTLE DETAIL about your love life is quite irritating at times. Also not posting about it at all may be a little doubtful especially if your a social media enthusiast. keep things in moderate and unfollow if you don't like what you see. :D
True true. Some things need to be done in moderation as well.
walang forever indeed HAHAHAHAHA. I thought about that part where developing photos is better than posting in social media, but it's hard to take that much effort in something you don't feel is truly full-proofed. It depends on the person of course if worth it yung partner nila. But imagine the break-up, I'd burn them all ;-;
Great write-up! I really enjoyed it :D
Thank you dear. I used to make scrapbook for my exes and artworks. I wanted to burn those all including those exes! Haha!
natawa ako sa third! hahaha! i can relate as I see some people posting on fb about their partners like duh, para namang aagawin ko yan sayo. He's all yours for all I care. Parang gnyan ang naiisip ko sa tuwing pinopost then pinagdadamot nila sa fb ung partner nila hahaha! It just doesn't make sense because we all have different taste preferences. 😂🤷🏼♀️
Hi sis! I thought ako lang magisa ako ang nakakaramdam ng ganyan. Dyahe diba masyado? Haha gwapong gwapo sa boyfriend. Hahahaha but NOO.
truth. hahaha i don't mean to offend them but their boyfriend maybe the most handsome for them and that's fine, but it's different from other people's perspective. haha kaya wag na sanang dugtungan ng "ang umagaw papatayin ko" and things like that HAHAHAHA
I often read stuff like that as well. Sad. 😂😂😂
Bullseye! I have lots of Facebook friends who are like that. And one more thing: "Don't post your conflicts in social media."
Yun nga po. Yung conflict nila na parang pangworld war three daw. Haha! We all know nagkakabatian lang din.
I agree with these tips. Posting everything on facebook makes your private life an open book to the public. It is not a good idea. Your relationship might be affected by what other people might comment on your posts. It is best to keep your dating life off social media.
Points taken dear 😊
:) Thanks for sharing this. We need to really be careful of our privacy. @gailbelga
