Art and Creativity: Draw with a Lady with Emotions [Tutorial]

Anyway, I would like to say sorry for my ignorance. I did not know that once I post on steepshot.io, it would automatically be published on my blog.

At this point , I would like to share to you how to draw and paint a portrait of a lady with such emotion. If you are a beginner, do not worry! I will be with you every step of the way. You can also consult me on the comment section of this point. I would be grateful to answer all your queries.

I actually painted this yesterday at dawn. I was practicing on how to paint a portrait with eyes closed. I swear at first, I was really struggling because I was not that into using colored pencils. Maybe I was four years ago.

Let us get started!

Start sketching by making a circle that would be used as the face of our subject.

Draw a half circle below to the first shape. It would serve as the arms of our subject. Just make sure that the arms are not really circle but rather just circular in shape, like a hill.

Divide then the face into two parts and also to another half. It would serve as your guide where to put the eyes, nose, eyebrows, and etc.

Add lips on the lower portion of the face. Since she is facing in such direction, the lips should not be symmetrical.

Draw two lines on each side as the eye for our portrait, and lines on top of it. It should not be straight because that would serve as the portrait's eyebrow.

Now, let us add few more details on the face. Draw the nose by sketching two small round shape objects. That would serve as the nostril. Then initially, start shaping the nose. Render the nose and also, make the shape of the lips definite. After that, erase unnecessary drawings on the surface and somehow darker the sketch by using B or 2B lead pencil.

Since we are now done with our sketching/ drawing. Pick this certain shade or brown red from my Prismacolor set to outline the face. You can also opt to use different brands or tone of red or brown. Experiment and be creative!

Use a lighter brown tone to color the sides of the face of your portrait. Use it as well to color the areas near the nose bridge.

Follow one of the techniques that had been used by some portrait artists here in steemit. Use green as your undertone for your portrait. Just make sure it is not that dark, okay?

Use any type of flesh color that you want or even dark one if you wish and start coloring the corners of the face. Make sure you do not color on the entire face but leave the T-zone area. Also, use dark tones for the outline of the face and some areas of your portrait.

Then thoroughly enhance your portrait with shades of red. I used red with a hue of brown for the face and shoulders. I also made sure it matches the color of the hair which has different hues of dark red and orange. You can use this palette if you want to create a seductive tone.

You actually use watercolor since it is easier to use. You can easily finish with watercolor because the brush has its own magic. I hope you enjoyed this short tutorial for today. Have a great day everyone!
