Can video games teach us how to cook?
Cooking is considered an art for many people, the truth is that it is necessary in our daily lives because doing this task we can save a lot of money in addition to eating healthy, however, many can give a little laziness to do this, but there will always come a time when you need to do it.
One of the things that can be complicated for many is to cook intuitively, so you need a kind of guide whether it's a video, book or an experienced person to guide you through multiple attempts, but if you like video games there may be a more fun way to explore the kitchen.
Can video games teach you how to cook? Currently there is a huge variety of titles that can fulfill this task, most of them are aimed at a young or children audience, but this does not mean that an adult can play them.
Of all the video games that exist in this genre I personally consider a dagger that can make your cooking knowledge grow progressively, one of them is the famous Cooking Mama.
Cooking Mama is considered a cooking simulator which first release was released on March 23rd 2006 for the Nintendo DS, becoming one of the first games to come out for this style of handheld console. Its playability drove it into the DS catalogue, as well as being highly valued by video game critics.
In this video game we can do various tasks which are done with the stylus such as shredding food, peeling potatoes, molding mixtures, frying different foods and many more things, but not only will these cooking activities, you will also find games of memory or skill that will increase the mental dexterity of the player.
Cooking Mama won't turn you into a professional chef, but it will open the doors to the world of cooking for those curious people who want to know how certain dishes are made, because the ingredients found in the game exist in real life, allowing you to experiment with them and try any of the recipes.
Due to the success and acceptance of this videogame, they released different sequels (more than 6) improving the gameplay and involving new recipes, exponentially increasing the number of players around the world.
If you don't have a Nintendo DS to play Cooking Mama don't worry, there are different methods to explore this video game, one of them can be with an emulator, but if your computer doesn't have the necessary power to run it efficiently is a version of Facebook which has a lot of recipes and challenges to compete among your friends.
Personally I consider Cooking Mama an excellent video game for a person who does not have even the slightest experience in the kitchen can explore that world in the safest way, the interaction that exists between the game and the gamer is simply addictive, also value your effort with coins of bronze, silver or gold depending on whether you made the recipe in the most correct way.
