Nazi Temple?
I'm only joking with the title, I am very aware that the swastika has been a symbol of good luck in Buddhism for thousands of years and that the Nazi's simply adopted it and changed its meaning for the western world. The religious community over here is completely unphazed by that and honestly, they shouldn't feel compelled to change centuries of tradition because of something that they had nothing to do with and happened on the other side of the world.

Vietnam has no state religion and a vast majority of the country has something that in English is only referred to as "Vietnamese Folk Religion" and it is classified as a mixture of many religions but has much in common with Buddhism. I will admit i know very little about it and don't understand it. If there are any houses of worship that are associated with this religion, I am unaware of them.
However, when you encounter a place with swastikas on it and a giant fat Buddha in the courtyard, you kind of tend to take notice.
It is called Chùa Bửu Đài Sơn (and yes, I copypasta'd that) and it is located right across the beach in Da Nang, Vietnam.
It is on a part of the beach that is not very developed and at least for now, isn't visited by many of the locals or the few tourists that are here at the moment. It was a very quiet and deserted place but from what I could tell from the entrance it is very well maintained. I did not go inside because i was wearing exercise clothes and was sweaty from my bike ride... The last thing i want to do is create an embarassing situation because I am dressed inappropriately for a sacred place.

In the future i would like to return to this place with appropriate attire because look at those statues! Look at the craftsmanship. It must take a small army of people to maintain that and I love this sort of stuff.
You can see this place yourself if you happen to be in the area, which I am aware is very unlikely at the moment :) location
temples like this are all over SE Asia, I first encountered one in Malaysia and that was my first exposure to the swastika being anything other than a third Reich symbol. I never knew it before then. Did you notice how the Buddhist swastika seems to go in both directions? Maybe it is just so it is visible properly from both sides of the fence.
i hadn't noticed that until you pointed it out but looking at a wiki about it, it appears as thought i actually does go both ways
I had heard something about the symbol originating completely aside from Hitler. I feel kind of bad that this is new information to me. Well, i guess history books only teach us what they want us to know.
well the first time I saw one i was surprised but I now wonder if Hitler got the idea by seeing a temple and just copied it.
we have a few of these temples in Krabi, they are always the ones that are heavily influenced by Chinese culture. There have never been any efforts to try to remove the swastikas and there likely never will be because Thailand is certainly not a social justice warrior crybaby country.
if this was in USA the outrage mob would have already bashed the place in and burned it despite having no friggin clue what it actually was.
sadly, i think you are probably correct about that.
