RARE OPPORTUNITY

That time former Philippine President Gloria M. Arroyo offered a free Technical Education Skills and Development Authority (TESDA) courses including the program Computer Hardware Servicing NCII which is now Computer System Servicing NCII. Early in May 2009 a small college private school in our town awarded some slots for TESDA scholars and the said school have been authorized to be a TESDA Training Center. I grab the chance took up CHS NCII since it was totally free and we even get paid by TESDA for PHP60 a day in exchange to our attendance (daily allowance). We, TESDA students were called PGS or Pangulong Gloria Scholars for only 45 days course. Maybe you also have like this in your own place.

WHAT’S THE REASON?

Anyway, you might wonder why did I availed of such opportunity being a college graduate myself. Well I just want to tell you that I finished my degree but I really didn’t know how to properly shut down a computer hahaha sounds funny. Although we have our basic computer operation subject but only in one semester for the whole four years. Our computer instructor taught us the basic function of Microsoft office but didn’t even show us how to properly shut down the computer LOL. That was the main reason why I enrolled in TESDA two months after our graduation.

EXCEPTIONAL OPPORTUNITY

Three weeks before our TESDA final assessment our instructor told us that he will no longer be teaching TESDA course for the next batch. He was a regular instructor in the University where I graduated and just hired by the private school which was the Training Center as a Part-time instructor.

Our instructor encouraged and recommended me, my batch mate who happened to be my classmate in BSIT and another one who was a BS Education graduate to apply as instructor for the next batch. At first I refused the offer, my reason was I did not even enrolled in an Education course and I’m not fond of teaching either. I was so sarcastic but I am just being true to myself, if I would be given a chance and hired how could I be able to teach my students if I cannot even teach myself the right path as a student?

ME AS A GOOD CHEATER (LOL)

Going back to my college days, I am so grateful to my parents and most especially to my older brother who spent money for my college tuition since my parents cannot afford by means of financial. I am not proud to myself and could not even brag to be a good student because I never was, nevertheless I am so proud that I never let my parents and brother get disappointed for their sacrifices. I passed all the stages in college by the help of my rush rotating eyeballs and of course with the help of my resourceful and intelligent seatmates hahaha. I bet you know exactly what I mean LOL. I actually considered myself as a lazy student because I hate studying but I definitely love copying my seatmate’s answers during exams LOL.

FIRST JOB and ACHIEVEMENT

So 4 days after our instructor offered us the job my mind drastically changed and I grab the offer. The following day we’re hired and ironically I still didn’t know how to manage myself being an instructor as I mentioned I hate studying lessons but at that time to study is a must otherwise my students will laugh at me LOL.

To continue, we were assigned to handle the first year college student with their major subjects, which includes basic electronics and basic computer subjects. I regret why I did not study well during those days especially in college I should have been teaching my students good enough. But thanks to google for being there always to support me every time I need something for my lessons LOL.

So I been teaching for one week while I am still a TESDA student and eventually took the assessment and thanks God I passed and received my NC II license/certificate.

AM-TM TRAINING

In November 2011 I took AM-TM (Assessors Methodology level 1 and Trainers Methodology level 1) training so I can perform and be qualified as a TESDA Certified Trainer/Assessor. It was a 1 month training with a bit bloody daily outputs to produce, the good thing is I survived LOL. I was working in Bayawan Negros Oriental and the training was held at TESDA Region VII Lahug Cebu, so in a way it was also a great exposure for me being in another place a BIG City at that.

I LOST MY PHONE

The training was indeed a very memorable experience, not just the training or the people I met from different schools/institutions in Region VII but because of a strange, sad and unexpected experience, the taxi driver run away with my Nokia C2 cellphone LOL, what a clever driver.

But anyway, again what is important is I survived the training but sad to say I was not able to use my qualification as an assessor. I will be writing about this in the future.

SORROWFUL MEMORIES: MY BELOVED BROTHER’S ORDEAL

2012 was my final year as an instructor, actually it was not my intention but the universe brought me to the other side of the world.

In the month of September 2012, my elder brother was complaining about his health until such point wherein maybe he cannot bear the pain anymore so he asked me to take him to doctor for a check-up. During that time he felt dizzy like he never had before. So I brought him to the hospital for medical check-up, go through a general lab test but surprisingly the result seemed to be favorable, there was no sign of any major illness whatsoever.

Since the symptoms still persisted, we asked for another advice, that time with a nurse who just let him eat and sleep in a normal and right time, also the nurse mentioned my brother’s blood pressure was high. I was temporarily relieved by the nurse’s opinion and advice but not my brother he kept on telling me in Visayan dialect: “tol mura lagi ko ug malibat” meaning there was a problem with his vision.

Since we were so closed and I was used to his jokes yet I kept on thinking if he was serious, actually he was a healthy guy since he was playing as an amateur boxer.
To make the story short, my brother was confined and the neuro diagnosed that he had a right thalamus tumor a very rare brain cancer that made him unable to stand and walk alone till he became bedridden. Being the one so close to my brother and while the Neuro Surgeon told us about my brother’s case I was the only one who cried inside the doctor’s officer even if the whole family was there except my mother and with some relatives.

CRYING LIKE A CHILD

As I remember, I cried like a child who lost his favorite toy. That was the saddest part in my life I had ever experience, I cannot ride my bike with him anymore, I cannot drink coffee with him, I cannot shout again when he’s on the boxing ring throwing punches against his opponent, it’s unacceptable but we have to. That time I wished that all those things were just a dream and everything will be fine as soon as I wake up but it wasn’t.

So that’s all for now folks, I will be writing more about my life story including my very interesting and funny experiences both in the Philippines and abroad and before I will go I would like to thanks the person who invited me here @long888 under the group of @antonette, @iwrite, @bobiecayao, @lebron2016 and many more.
