Making Gifs

in #steemexclusive5 years ago (edited)

Greetings Steemians,

Today I went out on a bike ride with a goal to get some fresh air, exercise, and sunset photographs for a gif creation.

I made my first gif a couple of days ago, which I will share in this post as well.

The above photograph is my favorite capture of the sunset. I tried to make an acceptable gif with the sun still visible but it didn't happen. This is what I produced:

(I hope it works for everyone. Let me know if it doesn't please.)

This is an area by a shopping mall in Upstate New York.

I became interested in gif creations because of @drutter's gif's. They are wicked cool and it really inspired me. To see just how amazing his gifs are, check out his recent post. A big thank you to him for inspiring me.

I have a long way to go to get to that level, but I am proud to say I've started producing these things so quickly. I ended up utilizing a stock application on my smartphone. It's easy enough to use.

My first creation however is way cooler than this. I think I might use it at the bottom of some of my posts to promote Steemworld.
I would love to get some opinions on how it came out! Please let me know what you think :)
If you've never heard of Steemworld, it's a very nice tool to track transactions on your account and any other account as well. It was created by @steemchiller, and he's kept it up and running for us for a very long time. So a big thank you to him for Steemworld!

Here's my first gif, powered by Steemworld:

This was made from a single image of my workstation. I took the single image and made modified copies of different hues and color saturation to achieve the desired effect. It actually came out cooler than I imagined it would.

Thank you all for stopping by. I hope you're having a wonderful day!

Much love!

It looks like you have such beautiful area in country side, away from main road. Finally it is summer, being locked down it does feel like we missed spring and jumped into summer, we need to take any chance of being outside. The Gif of the bike trip looks great and it works. I like the version with Steemworld, that reminds me a disco place maybe because of colors :)

Hi @stef1,
Thank you so much for your thoughtful supportive comment!

Upstate New York (contrary to popular belief) is awash with beautiful country land and dense wilderness. The city only makes up for a small percentage of this US state.

I agree we must take any chance we can to enjoy nature. For me it is crucial for decompressing and detaching from the stressors of the not so real things that we make real in this world ;)

Party time? 😄

Thanks a bunch! The single image mod gifs seems to be easier to create and more pleasing to the eye :)

Bro, both your gifs looked good to me! Nice work. I'm kind of an amateur as well, but I do have some general overall image editing experience. For gifs I've just been downloading free software. Sometimes they only work for 10 gifs, or a month, etc. Kind of annoying! And some don't allow certain sizes, etc etc. Man, what I'd do with a grand in equipment/software! Anyway, thank you for the shout out! I find gifs can be a way to add depth to a post in a way that words can't always do. They're compact in size and really just show a basic idea as opposed to full video, but they have a place! Funny that they've been around for decades and I'm only just starting to have fun with them lately :P

Thanks for the kind words bro,
Your gifs look like actual videos to me :P

And some don't allow certain sizes, etc etc. Man, what I'd do with a grand in equipment/software!

I imagine it can get pretty complicated. I've downloaded image editing software in the past, free open source software on Linux, and I was just sitting there staring at the screen with no clue where to start.

Funny that they've been around for decades and I'm only just starting to have fun with them lately :P

They are pretty fun, I'm probably going make one with kitty Covid soon when he's tweaking.

Have a good day :)

I was very impressed to see your gift today.
Besides being useful for life, the sun is also very spoil our eyes. What a beautiful gift from God.
Thank you friends for sharing

Hi @wira8788,
Thank you for stopping by, it's great to hear from you! :)
I used to stare at the sun when I was a child. I'm lucky to have near perfect vision today.
Sometimes it it tempting to look at the sun, but I don't.

Thank you for the kind words my friend.

Hi Jake,
That was a nice capture of the sun. I think you were just in time.
Great job on the gif.
Vincent

Thank you Vincent for the kind words.
I will try to improve at this type of visual art.
It's always fun to try new things :)
