Finding Joy in Simple Things - It's Fun!
Recycled Hat = Lots of Fun
Tomorrow's office day so this post is going to be a quick one.
I just wanted to share with you how we find fun in even the simple things. How can it be so exciting for children to play with cardboard boxes?
Mom buys Organic Valley protein shake for her to take to work. And it comes in these curved boxes not like the square or rectangle boxes.
Modifications
Just like when you have a race car, you have to tweak it a bit.
The first picture was just the box itself and we wore it like mask-helmet-hats. But it was kind of tough to put it on because it was folding my ears. So I used my scissors to cut out some of the box.
First, cut the top off
I don't really need a tall hat.
Cut the top off and that made a lot more room for me to pull the box down over my head. The hole made it more flexible too so it's not too tight around my head.
Second, some decorative cuts
I had fun using the scissors on this one.
Trying it on
And here it is.
It's a lot better. Now I just need a piece of tape. And probably work on it again tomorrow. Maybe cut another hole for my eyes and nose.
Fun isn't it?
We don't really need a lot of expensive toys. Mom said when she was a little girl, they played with cans, rubber bands, stones, marbles. She didn't have a dolly.
We can find other things to play with and have fun. This was great. It's simple and we had lots of fun. We all had a laugh together when we discovered these boxes.
I also got my mom to wear it for a few minutes. I didn't take a picture though.
Great to see the imagination hard at work here!! My kids always loved to play with boxes too!
