Interesting Salary Theorem!

in #interesting8 years ago (edited)

Dilbert's "Salary Theorem" states that "Engineers and scientists can never earn as much as business executives and sales people." This theorem can now be supported by a mathematical equation based on the following two postulates:

Postulate 1: Knowledge is Power.
Postulate 2: Time is Money.

As every engineer and scientist knows: Power = Work/Time.

If (Knowledge = Power) and (Time = Money) then Knowledge = Work/Money.

Solving for Money, we get: Money = Work/Knowledge. Thus, as Knowledge approaches zero, Money approaches infinity, regardless of the amount of work done.

Conclusion: The less you know, the more you make.

Often, it does seem that CEOs make far more money than the people who actually know what it takes to make a business successful. At best, we can hope for a CEO who recognizes his or her limitations and rewards those who make it possible for him to have a company of which he/she can be CEO.

Value is power. Knowledge is infinite and access to knowledge for people is the same. The creative, empathetic leaders who invest in emotional labor to me are the ones making change.
