Im climbing up the hill to the Calypso´s cave on Gozo island! (Malta Vlog)
Hello dear Steemians,
today I uploaded the next Vlog of my travel trip to Malta on my Youtube channel.
In this Malta travel Vlog Im climbing up the hill from the Ramla Bay beach to the Calypso´s cave. The Calypso´s cave with a wonderful view over the magnificent red sand of Gozo's most beautiful beach, Ramla l-Hamra is said to be the cave that Homer mentioned in the Odyssey.
According to legend, Gozo is Homer's island of Ogygia and the cave is where the beautiful nymph Kalypso held Odysseus as "prisoner of love" for seven years.
The cave itself is not particularly impressive, but the connections with Homer are fascinating and the view of the picturesque Ramla Bay is breathtaking.
On the bank below the Calypso Cave are the ruins of a fortress of the Maltese Knights, built in the mid-18th century to serve as a line of defense against invasions.
