Let's make curation great again!

Whenever their is a discussion that re-occur over a period of time, I see the importance of the issue that needs to be clarified or at least discuss even further. I'm talking about the recent conversation about the curation reward. Some of the hi-stake users are proposing to have 50/50 split on the post rewards; the author will earn 50% while curators will also earn 50% of the post payout.

This 50/50 split is believed to be the solution for the lack of curation activity within the platform. For some users, the lack of curation reward has forced them to sell their votes instead of curating for contents. Obviously, the earnings from the selling of votes is lucrative and easier compared to the rewards to be gained from working on curation.

I don't mean to say that the selling of votes is fun or an enjoyable experience. In my opinion, it's boring and it doesn't bring any real value to the seller and the buyer. I have tested it for quite some time and so I speak from my personal experience.

Based from my experience over the past 18 months, there some of us that are really good in creating contents, the kind of contents that are deserving to be rewarded. There are also some users that has the power to pull the rewards from the pool and route it towards the content creators however, since their isn't motivation to do so, they are either inactive or they simply sell their votes.

If in case that curation has more incentives than now, the consumption and upvoting of contents will improve. While I can't speak for everyone else, I can attest to those who also think that "incentivized" curation can increase the demand for Steem and as a result SP will be worthy to utilize!
