HIVE | Excitement... Ramble... Questions...
I was once told that "Desperate times call for desperate measures".
The whole world is dealing with one of the toughest pandemic (COVID-19) and so as the Steem network (Centralization). In the real world we are battling against a disease while in the Steemworld we are challenging central entities for decentralization.
Apparently (at the moment), we are out of moves against Covid-19 but the fight ain't over yet. While in Steem, the fight has just begun and we are equipped with more bullets to fire. This the fight that makes me believe that there is hope.
The Hive blockchain is creating a lot of hype among the Steem users. But who among us will choose over another? Will you be loyal and choose one or will you think smart by staying on both sides?
The release of Steem-Engine tokens and frontends were not a difficult choice since we don't have to choose either one. We can choose every token we want.
Although Steem or Hive will not directly restrain anyone for their choice in the long run however the dapps & services that we used to have will not necessarily exist on both chains. Some might stay in Steem while some might leave for Hive and it's not a good thing for users who depend on them.
Many are glad to leave Steem for Hive while some will stay to fight for Steem.
This is how humanity works, we have to have factions in every aspect of the society.
This leaves me with the thought of how will this separation benefit everyone in the long run? For what I can see, the new thing will always have the most attention at first until they both level in the long run. If both of the chains (Hive & Steem) stay and do their own thing, where do you see yourself into? Especially if both chains simply compete among each other and try to outrun each other's accomplishment. How will this separation benefit us? Are we leaving Steem to fight a different battle or are we just leaving to camp on a different base?
In the announcement, it was mentioned that Hive is the same Steem but a better version of it. There are no details yet, but I believe that Hive become better in some aspect of Steem. The Hive will serve for the community's needs while Steem might fight for existence and distribution (money). Hive might appear to be a better version of Steem but not necessarily more profitable. Steem might outrun Hive in terms of price and market cap, I think it's very possible.
On the other hand, Hive could potentially overturn the event and be favored by many investors. It may take time but it's also very possible. We just need the outside world to believe it and the core Hive team to deliver.
Now the important question, will you support the new Hive?
