The freezing statue

It's been a while since I have enjoyed working. It has also been reflected on my steeming. I can't promise more art posts, but I found this low-hanging fruit the other day. It's been in the process for a while, it was time to do SOMETHING with it. And since it's monochrome monday, something had to be done with that as well.

The source image for this project was snapped the autumn 2011. It is taken just outside the cathedral in Tromsø centre. It was obviously children who had made a prank or maybe someone forgot their scarf and someone made it real visible? Who knows. Anyway, I snapped three frames before proceeding to wherever I was going. I had different exposures in all of them and this is the one that stood out:

I got the metal to shine, the way I remember it in this frame. But there are problems with it. The background is disturbing and doesn't really suit whatever I was aiming for. (I didn't think about it in other words!)

2. A variant I had tried out

I had done some work to get rid of the disturbing background and make a sort of a paint effect. It's not, It is another image I blended in. You never know when you need textures, so I tend to collect them And this was a rusty metal object observed on one of my kayak trips. It lookes like this and is just applied with a overlay layer. Here with the mask I used intact:

Not very sophisticated! And I see now I missed something on the hand. Looks like she's bleeding.

Well. Not bad. But it can be better. And it wouldn't be honouring monochrome monday if it wasn't black and white.

3. Monochrome monday version (sort of)

That's more like it! I love to make blends of color and mono.

But wait! We can combine them

And yeah. I end up with more variants to store, back up and maybe do something with one day. Or not. Who knows.

But this not so perfect photo got more visually pleasing. And I can easily think of some use case.
