Social Studies in Primary School
Most parents, who are not teachers in Singapore, may not know much about what their children are learning in Social Studies.
Many of the parents, like the ones who commented in the videoclip below, may find Social Studies not important since it would not be tested during exam for Primary level.

In Singapore, there is a structure syllabus to provide knowledge beyond academic performance through Social Studies.
Students would learn about different culture within the country as well as our own history at the lower levels.
When they are at the upper levels, they would learn about other countries.
Social studies in Singapore is also part of the National Education which includes the importance of racial harmony.
Social Studies would allow our students to have greater understanding and awareness of society and how they can play a part to build a better world.
We should appreciate this aspect of education even if it is not tested in exam.
