Indirect Management

As the head of an organisation, we can choose to scold or reprimand someone at fault directly.

Regular scolding or reprimanding can cause relationship to turn sour.

One of the good ways is to manage individuals indirectly through others.

Delegation

As the head of the organisation, we can delegate power to managers to monitor and guide the employees.

We do not need to direct anyone but we can instruct our managers to correct those who needs to be corrected without us doing it.

By delegation, we do not establish direct contact with staff of the lower level so that we can avoid bad relationship.

In a classroom, the teacher can select and empower a class representative to handle the discipline matters without the need for the teacher to scold the students directly.

Establishment of hierarchy

By establishing a good hierarchy of different levels of managers, we can monitor every single staff more effectively through our managers.

When there is a problem, the problem would not go to the top management immediately but handle at the bottom hierarchy first.

The problem would be evaluated and escalated depending on its seriousness.

The head of the company can focus more on the overall direction and planning of the company without handling the common affairs.

Establish Good Reputation

Without the need to control or reprimand the staff at the lower hierarchy, the head can constantly project himself as a friendly and approachable person.

By having a good reputation, most staff would be willing to put in their best for a great boss.

The head of the organisation can also easily handle serious dispute among staff when there is a need to step in.

In Conclusion

There are many benefits of indirect management since the head is never the bad guy.

The head would be able to direct and control every staff through his managers.

The impact of serious matters to have the head to step in would be tremendous when the need arises.
