Hardship Of A K-Pop Trainee
Many teenagers dream of becoming a K-pop idol but they only see the outer glory of famous K-pop idols.
There are many hardships that most K-pop idols had to face before they experience their current success.
Even when they have successful being accepted, they would be given a slave contract which was often unfair and it would take many years to pay back the cost of grooming them by the agencies.
Early years of most K-pop idols may not be able to make much income due to their heavy debt to their agencies.
I recently met a parent of my ex-student. Her daughter wanted to enrol in the k-pop programme in korea.
The brutal fact is not everyone can be successful during their trainee years and only a small percentage of them can be accepted.
Despite all these facts, there are still many who would fly to korea to fulfil their long desired dream but face with shattered dream of cruel reality.
Below is a confession of an ex-kpop idol, Way, from Crayon Pop.
With this post, I do hope that parents and teachers can give better advice to their kids who dream of being a K-pop idol.
When we are unable to get our children to see the reality, we can always show them videoclips like the above to let them watch and realise the reality of a K-pop idol on their own.
We know that what we say may not get into them but we can let them watch related videoclips to lead them into serious reflection about the possible consequence of their decision.
We cannot stop them from dreaming but we can let them know the brutal facts of reality.
