Beware of Mr Wolf
I would like to believe that most teachers have chosen to take up the position because of their hearts to educate the young rather than for money or job security.
It is always disheartening to read the news and find out about teachers who have abused their position and took advantage of the young and innocent ones.
As parents, we may have respected our children’s teachers but we would still need to provide sound advice to our children in taking extra precaution when a particular teacher steps out of the boundary.
This article is just to raise the awareness of certain things we can remind our children.
Flirt With Words
Words do have powerful effect and we all acknowledge it. When we decide to settle down, we use word to make vows during our wedding ceremony.
For a female student, it is very easy to get overwhelmed when a male teacher keeps giving praises for her outlook.
It may lead to the charming of the young heart that may not understand what love really means.
Just imagine a teacher and a female student having a whatsapp chat
Mr Wolf: You did great in class today!
Student A: Thank you very much!
Mr Wolf: You are pretty smart! Pretty and Smart! LOL
Student A: Haha! Thank you, Sir!
Can you imagine a male teacher praising the outlook of a female student like the above?
Very often, it may all start out as harmless conversation before things go out of hand.
We should warn our daughters to be careful of male adults who always praise their outlook with possible ill intentions.
There are many teachers who may have praised their students often with good intentions.
There are just that few rotten eggs among the good ones.
One-To-One Guidance
There is really nothing wrong for a teacher to offer one-to-one coaching for a weak student.
The problem comes when the teacher suggests to meet at a place where it is enclosed without anyone else around.
There is a degree of danger so female students should let the male teacher know that they would feel more comfortable at the school library or open space study corner where there are people around but still quiet enough for the coaching.
The good offer may be a trap by those few rotten eggs but the majority really wants to help.
It is always better to take precaution and we are teaching our daughters how they should protect themselves even in the corporate world in future.
In Conclusion
There are many other good ideas on how our daughters can protect themselves from Mr Wolf.
The most basic is not to get too emotionally influenced and have a private relationship with Mr Wolf so that there is no opportunity for invasion.
This article is not to ruin the reputation of the teaching profession since the majority really comes with a good heart to educate the future.
It is just a reminder for parents to educate their daughters to take precaution and it does remind us as teachers about our professional image in our dealing with our students.
