A short reflection of the movie – Avengers: Endgame
It was Labour Day on 1st May 2019 in my country. I took the opportunity to take my family out to watch the Avengers.
It was really hard to get the tickets since it was only out in the theatre not long ago. We had to watch a midnight show at 12.15 a.m.
I really loved movies with super human power especially superheroes that we have known since we were kids.
I did enter whaleshares discord while waiting for the movie to start and had a short conversation with some of the whaleshares folks.
The kind of profit, that rolls in for movie makers that can incorporate popular comic book stories into movies, is really incredible.
As usual, there can be meaningful interpretation to every movie for different individuals.
This is just a short personal reflection about the movie.
Life goes on
With the previous movie when Thanos removed half of the life forms across universe, life on earth had to go on.
There were lots of unhappiness for the loved ones as well as the regrets of not being able to stop the tragedy from happening.
The Avengers considered themselves as protectors but they felt that they had failed everyone when they were not able to stop Thanos.
On the other hand, Thanos was living alone after fulfilling his destiny with part of his body injured. He was killed by Thor when he was found.
The infinity stones were already destroyed by Thanos with no hope of reversing the situation.
The rest of the life form continued but no one can deny the emotional and mental inflictions that the tragedy had brought to everyone.
A miracle when all hopes are gone
Just like most movies, there must be a sudden glimpse of miracle for a different outcome with an impossible mission to make it an incredible movie.
A great story must always have great challenges to overcome leading a great victory and success.
Our life may also be full of challenges just like I mentioned more than once that I had a difficult class this year as a teacher.
We must believe that there is always a way out and challenges can make us stronger when we choose to do our best to overcome them.
Regardless of success or failure, the process of not giving up is really the greatest success without focusing solely on the outcome.
Do our best
Whenever I am teaching a graduating class, they may often have already gone through various failures and discouragement. They really hate learning and they do not have motivation to work hard.
I do lead them to accomplish little successes to build their confidence so that they can believe that they are better than what they think and they can accomplish more when they choose not to give up.
The result of the national examinations does not determine their life success as it is just a stage in their lives.
The attitude of doing their best without focusing on the positive or negative outcomes should be our focus.
There are many success stories that one acquires success because of their attitude of always giving their best in what they do without past academic performance as a hindrance.
The right mindset would ensure one to gain success in different ways in their lives.
The successes or failures that we do face are learning opportunities to build us when we choose not to be defeated whenever we do fail.
The Avengers in the movie had done their best even when it looked like an impossible mission with only a slight hope of success.
The end result was the majority of human race being restored but there were sacrifices like the death of Iron Man.
It was still worth a celebration because they managed to accomplish what they aimed to achieve.
In Conclusion
Movies can simply be an entertainment for many but we can often use them as great teachable moments especially for our children.
I had recently conducted a sharing session with teachers from other schools.
During this session, there were movies used to ignite deep conversation about issues related to current society and how we can use these movies to educate our students.
We can also use movies to educate adult learners for different organisational needs.
Learning can be everywhere and anywhere in our lives.
