New Goodies for my Steem Nodes
Couple months ago I built a new machine for my steem node. Was a good thing I did. My old one started having issues a few days ago. I think it's something with the hard drive. It is using one of those SSHD drives. It works for a bit then all IO slows to a crawl. So I switched over to the new node as my primary. Still going to use this one for a node as well (I have 3 now. primary, backup, and one to test on). Figured I would go with a regular SSD for the boot drive this time but I still wanted storage too. I took some of my SBD earnings, converted to btc and bought 3 new drives. Got a 480gig SSD to use as the boot/swap/program drive. Same one that I have in my new machine. Also bought a 4TB HDD with 256meg cache to use for the bulk of the blockchain data and probably a bitcoin node as well. Third one is another 4TB but only 64meg cache. This will be the backup drive for my nodes. One drive should be sufficient to backup both machines and my other ubuntu machine for quite some time. Offline storage for a faster recover in case of any disaster. Already cloning the data to a new drive. Will resize it, and image it to the SSD when it's finished.
All those bitcoin small blockers that complain about hard drive storage just need to get on steemit and earn some money for bigger drives.
oh man there's nothing better than getting new computer parts in the mail ha!
That is exciting! Where is that UPS guy? He should be here by now.
