Couple in England uncovers a well beneath their sofa

A couple in Devon, England who discovered a deep well under their sofa 30 years ago, finally hit water after they started digging seven years ago.

Colin Steer, 67, noticed a slight depression on the floor in the living room around 30 years ago when he was replacing the floor joists and he started digging, reported the Telegraph. When he dug down about a foot deep, he was stopped by his wife who told him to cover it up since they had three kids living in the house.

After wondering about what was beneath the floor for so many years, Steer finally decided to restart the digging when he retired seven years ago.

However, the huge hole was far deeper than he thought. Now, he dug 17 feet before finally hitting water. The old man believed that the bottom would be wider as he dug down further.
