Meme Farmer: Part 1 Origins and Understanding

I, like many of you, came of age in the late 90's. The wooosh click eee er eee er of the dial up connection shaping a new part of the brain that likely our parents generation will never possess. It was in the land of Angelfire & Geocities that the modern meme was born.

In these early user friendly interfaces the language of internet culture began to evolve and merge with an entire generation's cultural identity. Maybe you taught yourself HTML by uploading gifs or other digital ephemera? Perhaps an entire page was created as an inside joke shared amongst your closest friends? No matter your connection to the idea there's no doubt the meme has enfatuated and shaped the way humans connect online & IRL.

In this series we'll explore the meme. Sharing stories of some of the most iconic along side more under the radar slices of digital gold. Perhaps telling a story that is culturally historical, relevant to the modern collective psychology & piss your pants hilarious.
