Life Changes Revealed on my Birthday

in #blog9 years ago

Today is my birthday and despite my son insisting I'm turning 2, you'd have to add another 26 years to hit my actual age.

Re-grouping

Yesterday, I was at a workshop I've looked forward to for months because it promised to help you clarify your next step in creating a business. Remember those life changes I hinted at yesterday? Well, after a lot of pros and cons thinking and even more prayers, we've decided to let me go ahead and get a specific coaching degree - dealing with parenting, which besides my actual field of study is my biggest passion.

That workshop was nothing like what they promised and I sat through two and a half hours of intense cussing and listening to how you need investors and an advisory board. I 'm sure both of those are useful if you are planning to go big, but the workshop was marketed as 'figure out if entrepreneurship and freelancing are for you and what to do next in your business idea'. I came home, sad, angry and frustrated.

Today my feelings have changed somewhat. Not towards the workshop, however, I can't help but feel optimistic about the year ahead. I have a message, I have a passion and soon I'll have a degree to 'validate' that. I'm so excited about 2018, which will most likely be the year I start my own consulting business.

A new plan for SBD and Steem

Education is 'free' in Denmark. We pay for it through taxes and have to buy books, etc. But you can take any degree you are qualified for, free of charge. Recent changes to the law mean you can now only get one degree, and then you have to wait 6 years before you can get a new one. I'm currently getting my master's degree, so technically I can't get a new degree until 2026, I believe.
The coaching degree is not a part of the Danish education system, which means I can get it whenever I want, but we have to pay for it. It's not an exuberant cost. The early registration fee is 880 USD, the late is 980 USD. I should be able to do the early registration.
This is a bit of a hit to our house downpayment fund, or rather the money that would be going towards it. That's why I've decided to pull out what I get from you guys for writing posts and apply that money instead. Instead of just being a fun hobby, generating a small amount of value that I would never actually see any off, Steemit will hopefully become a valuable addition to our finances.

What's next?

That seems to be the big question for us these days. What's next, what can we actually do now to further our dreams and goals? By our next paycheck, I'll be signing up for the coaching classes. By next year I'll begin taking them, by summer I will, Lord willing, be ready to open my business.

Today, however, it's my birthday and I'll be spending it studying, going to a lecture and praying about the upcoming year and all the challenges and wonderful moments I'm sure we'll have.

Thank you for taking this time to read my ramblings, until next time, God bless you and yours.
