Having fun while crazy busy - Should you?
Should you take out time for 'fun', when you are in the middle of a busy season? That depends on how you define fun and being busy.
When are you crazy busy?
Nowadays people are always busy it seems. Not me. I always have a lot to do, but I'm far from always busy. There's a difference and much of it depends on your mindset. When you are busy, you are in a situation of more stress than what is good for most of us. If you are only busy occasionally, it can be good. The added stress will make you perform better in most cases. The problem arrives when 'busy' becomes your normal state of being. Your body can't tolerate those higher levels of stress over a prolonged period of time.
Right now I'm officially crazy busy. I have more to do in 5 weeks than can reasonably be done. That's how you know you are truly busy. It's when you are experiencing a bigger than normal workload or something similar.
How do you define fun?
Whether or not you should take breaks for having fun in such a season depends on how you define fun. If it's spending a week away on vacation then the answer would be no. If it's spending the time you ought to be working on other things then the answer is no.
The wonderful thing, however, is if you define fun as taking out say 15 minutes in your day to write a steemit post, or play the guitar, or kiss your partner (and who wouldn't want to be kissed for 15 min?), it actually increases your productivity for the rest of your working time. If you continue to actively mull over all you have to do after a full day's work, then you are decreasing your productivity.
Schedule in the breaks for fun
Some nights you may have to work on the projects that are making you truly busy. In my case, three nights a week, I make and enjoy dinner with my family and then I leave for a couple of hours to work. During those days in particular, I make sure I have some fun scheduled in. I get to write a post for steemit as a creative outlet and I get to walk back and forth while listening to a good podcast, I could ride a bike, it would be faster, but the walk refreshes me.
You should aim for the kind of fun, that doesn't necessarily takes a long time, but really leaves your mind and soul refreshed and ready to work again once completed.
With 3 kids it is always crazy busy. Even though 2 are away at University, it still is busy. They come back! They bring not only their laundry, but their friends. LOL, then there is the mom bus for the 13 year old. I get the entire busy thing. I do schedule Fun for myself, it's called a bubble bath and a good cook book. LOL
Whatever floats our boats, right?!
I'm lucky as I work from home, I can just take breaks in the garden. Feeding the chickens, pulling carrots, planting cabbages - they are all fun to me 😊
That's my kind of fun too. I used to do that when I lived at home. It's been almost 10 years though since I moved out...

STOPA good book with a cup of hazelnut coffee... browsing through a bookstore or Goodwill/resale/consignment store. I rarely buy but I just love to look at books and things. Very relaxing
I go to bookstores too just to look. It's so nice.
