Two sexual assault cases in one day in RER D! One victim was a female police officer
On Tuesday, two cases of sexual assault occurred on the RER D line in Paris, where one of the women victims was a police officer. One suspect has been released and the other has been transferred to the Public Prosecutor's Office.
A 27-year-old man of Pakistani origin was arrested by police in Plaine-Saint-Denis, Seine-Saint-Denis, on Tuesday night, according to Le Parisien. At 6:30 p.m., he had sexually assaulted a policewoman on the RER D line, who works at the police station in the 13th arrondissement of Paris. As the RER D line was running near the Gare de Nord station in Paris, he sat near the woman and "excitedly" touched his genitals several times.
It was not the victim's working hours and she asked for help and tried to control him. Eventually, the man managed to escape. An internal investigator said the suspect was arrested by the BRF, which was patrolling the vicinity of the crime.
The Pakistani man was subsequently taken into custody on charges of sexual assault. According to another source, the suspect quickly confessed to the crime, admitting that he involuntarily touched the young woman.
Investigators did not find anything suspicious during a search of the suspect's residence. He was released Wednesday night after the prosecutor's office evaluated the materials he submitted.
A similar case occurred on the RER D line on Tuesday morning. At around 12:30 p.m., while the RER D line was traveling between Villeneuve-Saint-Georges and Gare de Lyon in Paris, a man sat across from the victim woman, who touched the young woman's thighs and knees and pulled her pants down three times. A passenger saw this and intervened in time and tried to stop the man's behavior. However, the man took out a knife and cut the traveler's right finger.
The victim woman called the police for help, and the man was subsequently arrested by police officers from the transport brigade. According to a source, the attacker was drunk at the time of the crime. The attacker was identified by a psychiatrist as having no mental problems. Previously, the man also had no record of similar offenses.
The traveler who had helped the victim woman on the RER D line said that his injuries were not serious and left. The young woman has now filed an appeal. The assailant has been transferred to the Paris prosecutor's office.
