India Trip - Bujinkan Budo Taijutsu - Ninja Training in Bangalore

in #travel7 years ago

Hey guys,

like mentioned in my last post, I came here for the Bujinkan classes, the Ninja training so to say. haha

But I think to begin with I'll tell you a bit about me and Bujinkan, so this will be more like a small introduction I guess.
I'll give you as much insight as possible for me right now.

I started training in Bujinkan around 4 years ago, I would say I learned a lot about myself. Be it mental or physical I think I became more aware of both.

So what is Bujinkan Budo Taijutsu?

It can be roughly translated to House of the Divine Warrior or Hall of the Divine God Warrior, I read that Masaaki Hatsumi our Soke, the head of the martial arts, named it after his Sensei (jap. for something like a teacher) Toshitsugu Takamatsu, which was called the "Last Shinobi"/"Last Ninja".

There are 9 different schools we are getting teached some of them are going back over 900 years. You even get the fancy Japanese names.

Togakure Ryu Ninpo Taijutsu 戸隠流忍法体術
Gyokko Ryu Kosshijutsu 玉虎流骨指術
Kukishinden Ryu Happo Hiken 九鬼神伝 流八法秘剣
Shindenfudo Ryu Dakentaijutsu 神伝 不動流打拳体術
Gyokushin Ryu Ninpo 玉心流忍法
Koto Ryu Koppojutsu 虎倒流骨法術
Gikan Ryu Koppojutsu 義鑑流骨法術
Takagi Yoshin Ryu Jutaijutsu 高木揚心流柔体術
Kumogakure Ryu Ninpo 雲隠 流 忍法

There are around 6 Samurai schools and 3 Ninja schools, they are techniques but they are more less principles nothing is really fixed, because you adapt depending on the situation and you are not trying to make things fit.

This is the dojo in Bangalore where we trained together, it's in the 5th floor of an office building. I will make another post about this office.

Collection of old weapons, I almost forgot to tell about the weapons.

We have a lot of them.

All sorts of weapons you can and cannot imagine. I'll do separate posts on the weapons and there uses, will be good for me too. Thanks a lot. haha

This is one of my favourite quotes or also goals I would say "To study is the path to the immovable heart (fudoshin)."
You remain calm with what ever happens, so you are accepting everything as it is and kinda dance and adjust according to what comes.

How does a training session look like?

Well that depends from dojo to dojo and it may vary from class to class. Some physical training is involved most of the time.
But it has similar points to Judo or Aikido I guess, where there is always one attacker tori and a defender the uke, the giver and the one who takes. haha. I think you guys are aware of this natural principle.

And It's not always the uke who should apply a principles, it's still can be very variable.

Because it's also depending on distance, positioning and timing, you should never repeat it to the point where you get stuck. If you still do it that way, at some point it may not work and you will loose your calmness in that moment.

That's when you probably get hit.

As you can see there is alot behind this and I really do love doing it. I would definitely be different if I didn't start it, but that would be with anything I guess. This won't be the last post about Bujinkan, I won't be able to cover everything there is to it. haha

If you guys do have something you also enjoy alot I would love to hear and of course just text me in steemit chat or here in the comments for any further questions.
