Twisted Metal And Tears (A story of love and survival)
I wrote this for anyone who may have ever been in a car accident or had a loved one who was. Whether it was a minor collision or it resulted in loss of life, we can all relate in some way.
Going through such an experience can really have an emotional impact. Often it makes us think about the things that are truly important in life.
TWISTED METAL AND TEARS
The sound of disbelief
Ran through your mind
As the awful screeching of painted steel
Gouged apathetically at our shared dreams
It forced your entire world
Into the hard pavement
With brutality and cruelty
Nearly tearing your last breath from your body
It was only then that you came to know
You may not pull through with life in tow
It was out of your control
All that would be left behind was twisted metal and tears
The Reaper was waiting
At the foot of your hospital bed
Waiting and hoping that soon
You would slip away dead
You stared into his hollow eye
Absent of heart and soul
And told him
That you refuse to give up and die
He could take the limbs from your body
Leave you disfigured and broken
It would not matter
You'd soon find a way to return to life - awoken
Your resolve to live a while longer
And kiss your children goodnight once more
Your conviction to return to your faithful wife
Whom you always said was the love of your life
Banishing the Reaper from your bed
After a long battle you showed him the door
You came back to me
The terror of losing my true love was finally no more
My faith was rekindled
As your lifeless hand
Began to tighten in mine
As I lie exhausted hunched over the bedside nightstand
Your first words will forever shine
You said
Thank you for not leaving my bedside
It was the only thing that kept me alive

Well penned. I shared your blog on my @MomzillaNC Twitter feed.
Thank you so much @momzillanc! I really appreciate it. And by the way, I love your name momzilla. It reminds me of my wife and all the amazing things she does with the kids to keep our lives above water.
Thanks for your positive read on “MomzillaNC” for a pen name. My son intended it as an admonition not to scold him in front of his friends by telling me they were calling me “a momzilla.” My response was, “You betcha! And proud to be!” LOL
Beautiful narrative of the passage from life to death, the exact moment where the soul leaves the body but at the same time returns to it, the description it makes of the accident is slight for the tragic image since the subtlety with which love strikes of the characters leaves this in the background, greetings, I liked his poem very well
Thank you.. :)
have always thought that the gift of writing poetry is so special that only a small percentage of people have it, and you are one of those lucky ones. Poetry was a luxury object, but for us it is a necessity article: we can not live without poetry.
Thank you so much for the kind words. :)
