Facebook Market Cap: 443 Billion vs Steem Market Cap: 489 Million [AMAZING POTENTIAL]

Sometimes you are allowed to dream right? Well, this dream could turn out to become real. 

Today Steem or Steemit is in its infancy, only 200 000+ users versus Facebook with a total of 1,9 Billion users. When Facebook had its IPO back in 2012 it reached during that day a market cap of 104 billion and it then had 483 million accounts. 

That is a lot of potential for Steem, lets play with some numbers:

• Right now the ratio between Facebook and Steem is 906:1 or 0.1%
• If Steem would have a market share of 1% of Facebook that would mean 4,43 Billion USD
• If Steem would have a market share of 10% of Facebook, then we are talking 44,3 Billion USD
• Finally, if the ratio would be 1:1, obviously the market cap would be 443 Billion USD

So, to round things up, what is realistic in a future race against Facebook? Well, if we only look at active account numbers, Steem might not reach 1,94 billion accounts anytime soon but 10% of that user base would be 194 million active users and that could be feasible within 5 years even if that is a high target.

If we look at content only, Facebook is way more day-to-day focused on trivialities. Steemit on the other hand is much more topic related and meant for thinking people so that could be a "hurdle" if we want to reach a gigantic mass market.
