How To Make Your Crock Pot Shine!

My sweet beloved Crock-Pot. It has been with me longer than my daughter has, and it has seen a few things!

I should say that I use this thing at least four times a week, mostly to convert dried beans to cook beans. We are several years out from it holding enough to actually make meals, with the exception of baked potatoes. Have you had Crock-Pot potatoes?? They're delicious! Anyway, I mostly just cook beans.

However, the biggest problem I have with using it all the time, is that it can get pretty stained up, especially with black beans or kidney beans.

So, it can be a little bit of a challenge when I'm washing it. Then I discovered a way to make my 13+ year old Crock-Pot look new again!

It was really staring me right in the face. We use this product all the time for everything! From deodorant to the washing machine to toothpaste. I bet you already know what it is!

Baking Soda

If there is ever a post-apocalyptic situation, this is probably the number one item I would have wished we had stocked up on.

Maybe I should be a few extra boxes today...

Anyway! It is my go to for all kinds of cleaning aid. Have a lot of soap scum in the bathtub? Baking Soda! Have stains on your counters? Baking Soda? Do your kids stink? Baking Soda!

It's perfect.

Well, I knew I wanted to share this tidbit soon, so I wanted the Crock-Pot to get pretty stained up first. It makes more of dramatic before and after picture. Unfortunately, it seemed to wash up easily every time and it took weeks to get it gross enough!

Oh the lengths I'll go to make a blog...

So, finally I decided enough was enough, and here we are!

The process to cleaning it is really, really, really simple. Remove the ceramic bowl from the Crock-Pot base, put it in the sink with a dab of water, sprinkle with baking soda and scrub with a dish rag.

I took a photo of the washing process. Do you see that? The stain is coming right off!

So, there you have it. At this point, I say sodium bicarbonate the world!

Do you have any must-haves for you cleaning? I would love to know about them!

Thanks so much for sharing this with me!
Take care!
Much love,

Baking soda is a miracle! 🙂

It sure is!!

You're absolutely right about baking soda.
It works wonders in many things.. even unclogging sinks or toilet bowls.
I always have one in my home to safe guard

I didn't realize you could unclog sinks and toilets with it! This stuff just keeps getting better and better!

Oh yes.. It's like a magic potion for any household.
Some people tells me a bottle of coke does the trick too but I don't think so

My boys do stink, so I gave them three tea spoons of Baking Soda each before bed. Now they stink and look like they have Rabies foaming at the mouth - any suggestions?

Absolutely...the best thing now is to give them a drink of vinegar and shake 'em around a bit. That should really do the trick!

Perfect! Although I am all out of Vinegar will a pint of Cider each do the job? Surely it will work well after giving em a good Shake 😋

Cider is the recommended replacement!
