A Homesteading Freewrite...Determination

in #freewrite8 years ago

This is it. The ball is in our court.

Those were words shared with me from a great friend this past week, as I described to her the goals the Lord has set before us. How we have everything we need to accomplish the goals, and the only thing left is to do!

So, the Yeti and I have big dreams of moving to a land that feels more plentiful, not just with loomy soil, but for our souls. I can't speak for @freedompoint, but our current location has been a struggle for me. I've struggled with the terrain...I've struggled with the soil...the deadly insects and snakes...the community...the people. Everything feels a little off. It's the same feeling I get if I stand in a tunnel, but on the curved side where you feel like you might lose your balance. It's exhausting there, and I'm ready to go.

I love my Lord, and I love obedience more than my personal comforts so it was extremely important that my heart and perspectives were in the right place while I prayed through this. We had thought of moving before, but it was mostly out of anger because the hardships we had faced. Our hearts weren't in the right place. So we refocused and became content in what the Lord had given us.

Two years later, we now feel like we've climbed this huge mountain! It was hard, and it was trying. It was full of injuries and endurance. But we made it. Almost.

That last item on our Missouri to-do list is to finish our tiny home. I...am...DETERMINED.

Mudding and texturing drywall

Painting my new kitchen shelves!

The most beautiful part is that I feel like I'm in step with the Lord's timing, which means everything. He's given us resources and provisions...more than I can describe, and has blown away ALL of my expectations.

I love that I can always rest in His ways...even on my hardest days.

Good for you for persevering! That must feel good. We have thought about moving before too, because our land wasn't right for this or that reason. But I love this little piece of land so much I also can't imagine leaving it... So we stay and work and keep making it our own little haven.

Thank you, it's been such a learning experience...and life experience living here.

Good for you! I'm so glad you found a place that feels like home.

Really enjoyed your post. My family was where you are 5 years ago. We knew the Lord had told us to "GO". We just didn't know where. You have a great attitude. Just keep serving Him and listening for his direction. He will open and shut the doors along the way. "Ask and it will be given. Seek and you will find"

Yes! Thank you for the encouragement!

Where did you guys end up going? If you don't mind me asking ☺

We ended up in central Kentucky. Never dreamed I would live in KY but now that we r here we love it.

Kentucky is beautiful! So happy for guys that you found a place to love!

Hey! So my husband just made this video, the Lord put it on his heart, and as I watched it, you guys kept popping in my head. So I thought maybe I should share it with you! Hope all is well!

That is really funny. I was just watering the cattle and watched that video your husband made on prayer. He did a great job. I think he hit the nail right on the head in the video

That is funny! Glad it all worked out haha...I'll tell him what you said, thank you!

Yes, having rest in the ways of the Lord. Amen.

Awesome! Remember, I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. Phil. 4:13

Love it! That is a verse that is always worth hearing again and again!
